Not necessarily. Operations there are being handed off from NSO to NMSU. NSO only had a skeleton crew there at this point and there's some talk among those who worked there that this has to do with the hand off in some way, though I think that's speculative as well.

I noticed that the facility has recently changed hands. The "new guys" may have found something that the "old guys" didn't know about or couldn't account for and called the FBI. Who do you think scientists are? Nerds. We're nerds, lots of us have old PC games lying around. They did live there so it makes some sense that one of them would have something like that on hand.

For what the lad that did post his walkaround said . . . there where 3 different categories of residents/occupiers . . . Observatory, Post Office, Forest Service . . . IMO the only thing they had in common was the location, IMO there is nothing at all that would relate them to an "observation event" . . . Since location is the relation, please allow me to elaborate . . . IMO an event ocurred in the location, such event will not be repeated (no guards for future events) . . . Such "event" must/should have being witnessed/talked about by the residents/occupiers. IMO the main order was not to close the location but to disperse the residents/occupiers, IMO some individual will have to undergo a series of questions, good luck for them.

This was the only physical observatory shut down. The others, being web based, easily shut down, IMHO as plausible deniability.
