This work will lead to long-term benefits for you including: Enhanced safety features Reliability of service for years to come Less future maintenance work in your neighborhood System support for amenities like fire pits, outdoor grills, pool heaters Weather permitting, work will take place Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with temporary lane restrictions possible during working hours. Project schedules are subject to change. For your safety, your gas service will be off during the installation. We may relocate the gas meter to an appropriate place outside – at no additional cost to you. Once our work is completed, we’ll conduct a natural gas safety inspection outside and inside your home or business. After a successful inspection, we’ll relight your appliances. See a project in action. [link to www.columbiagasma.com (secure)] Looks like terrorism's off the table. Edit- They took the page down... until the Authorities say something that doesn't sound like their usual total bull shit, nobody knows what's going on. |
Eilonwy User ID: 76884224 United States 09/13/2018 08:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Most likely a malfunction at the gas company and they overpressurized the gas lines. Quoting: LoneStarRising That's what local news is saying No safety valves on individual homes? They do. They have a pressure regulator at each meter: [link to www.hunker.com (secure)] However, they can and do fail if the inlet pressure gets too high. Is this like when you make a car reservation, but there isn't a car waiting? Do people install these just to log more labor hours? “A grower of turnips or shaper of clay, a commot Farmer or a king--every man is a hero if he strives more for others than for himself alone.” Lloyd Alexander, The Castle of Llyr |

Tonight, it hasn't stopped since I got home at 6:00. Constant news coverage of this. Showed some live helicopter feeds above these highways and yes, gridlock everywhere. Traffic sucks during rush hour on a normal day. I'd be flippin' my shit if I got caught up in that gridlock of a nightmare. ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

Quoting: Lost Pottawatomie Older gas appliances with pilot lights especially, with a normal 3/4 inch flame, might have suddenly flames feet long shooting out. Gas is often delivered at higher pressures today, and the home meter/regulator making a much bigger drop. The new meters are often much louder. I've always thought this was a bad idea, combined with the fact this is just something technology will always suffer. This happened in Chicago maybe 10 years ago. I forget how many buildings. Thank you for the info. Isn't the pressure down now? Why are there still more explosions? There are probably hundreds of houses full of gas right now. |

We poached him from a gas company in MA a few months ago. He used to deliver gas pipes for big projects. He called his friends in the industry to see what happened and this was his reply to me. Quoting: Cardiak “So I called my guy. Columbia gas of Lawrence was repairing a high pressure gas line so they diverted all the gas into a low pressure line for whatever dumb reason and it was too much to handle so far 26 house have blown up 2 people dead they've evacuated 3 towns. Columbia gas is gonna lose their shirts in law suits people are going to get fired and possibly see jail time” Wow. BUMP |

Does that mean that they kind of know what caused it, so they know for sure terrorism wasn't it, or that they don't know at all what caused it but as a matter of course they just say that it wasn't terrorism?
