Earlier, shortly after this all started, local news was warning residents not to turn on or off lights or appliances, not to open or close windows/doors, etc.

I suspect that the odorant that is added to natural gas was "accidently" left out. You don't smell it after a while, like working at a garbage dump. Oh noze indeed as you developed a nose for this thing. Three foot three, four by two way down there makes me a product of that canary in the fookin mine. The odorant as far as I know is added afterfact but methane is quite distinctive.. Aye. Ya just develop a nose of sorts.
