Florida Republicans distancing themselves from Trump's false claims about Puerto Rico storm death

Not Harvard and this study seemed to include ANY death afterthe hurricane.

By the time Trump finished tossing paper towels and people and was wheels up from San Juan in Air Force One, the official tally had more than doubled, from 16 to 45. And the numbers just kept climbing and climbing after the storm while most of the island remained without power pretty much until five minutes ago. Three months after the storm, the estimated body count was over 1,000 and it kept climbing after that, as residents died from lack of health care, water, food ... and oh yeah, electricity. The current estimate is 2,975, and it could be more than that. But those people don't count.

Yep, those deaths are Trump's fault. Because he stole the office of POTUS and assumed responsibility.

If he doesn't want to be responsible, he is more than welcome to resign. Until he's out of office, though, it's all on him.

That's what it means to be Commander in Chief. It means the buck stops with you. If he wants to PASS the buck, he needs to return to reality TV.

I have little sympathy, because I live in Florida, and we were nailed hard by hurricanes last year, too.

My property is still fucked, but I spent the first week with no electricity cutting downed trees and rebuilding all the broken shit.

No showers and no air conditioning. I washed my stinky ass with a jug of water on the back patio, then I went to work at my real job, fixing other people's shit.

Just like my neighbors.

I suppose that's why we're not all living in hotels hundreds of miles from home now.

Independent researchers from the George Washington University have estimated that 2,975 died in Puerto Rico in the six months following Hurricane Maria in 2017 – a far cry from the government's original official death toll of 64. The authors of the study also found that individuals in low-income areas and elderly men were most at risk for death on the island from September 2017 through February 2018.

The researchers' findings had been much anticipated. Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rosselló ordered the George Washington University study in February in the face of mounting public pressure over his administration's failure to adequately count the number of deaths in the storm's aftermath.

"The results of our epidemiological study suggest that, tragically, Hurricane Maria led to a large number of excess deaths throughout the island," said Dr. Carlos Santos-Burgoa, the principal investigator of the project and a professor of global health at George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health. "We hope this report and its recommendations will help build the island's resilience and pave the way toward a plan that will protect all sectors of society in times of natural disasters."

In the aftermath of the catastrophic storm, which tore through Puerto Rico last September, the government's official death toll has held steady at 64, despite several academic assessments that asserted that the official death count does not come close to the actual one. The government of Puerto Rico even acknowledged that figure was likely inaccurate and would be adjusted once the George Washington researchers completed their analysis.

In reality it was more than 17,000 death due to collateral damage , one being the lack of clean drinking water that evidently someone in the chain of command failed to distribute
,most all persons not receiving kidney dialysis died along with the lack of drinking water that made it worst instead of giving them boxes away they rationed the water to one bottle per person many died due to this wile millions of the fucking bottles lied being sun bleached at the end of a landing strip tarmac !
