Most church goers are normal folks wanting to be better. Most are stupidly following something they were taught exists.

Don’t get me wrong. I guess you could call me a deitist. I guess I believe that Humans need to ground their selves spiritually and want to do what is right. Their tools are either obscure and the truth that exists are hidden their actions and believe are the path of least resistance. And Not bucking the church.

Most religion folks I know are followers. Their backbone is a boiled noodle. No standup guys and zero follow thru. Syrian Christians my recent case in point.
The leaders are usually ago driven, less than ethical upstanding on multiple fronts. They get to truly believe they are entitled and god and jesus really talk to them.??? Lol plus tells Or or better commanded their flock to do this also.

Religion a cortisol rush, pat your back , we’re different, have to be prosecuted for our beliefs, and it’s us against the world club. World is full of them.

I consider myself a Christian, but am not like you describe. I am deeply flawed, but do not look forward to the end of the world, etc. I hate wars, US involvement in the middle east and all that. My mom grew up in a Baptist church (not putting down Baptists or saying all Baptist churches are like that) and said that the particular one she went to talked about the rapture and dying all the time- trying to scare people into being saved. She was terrified as a child and had nightmares. She took me to a Methodist church because they never talked about the rapture and "scary things" only spoke of loving each other, were very 'help the community' oriented (not saying all Methodist churches are that way). They had a female pastor and were very kumbayah. They didn't really even teach scripture. It was more of a social and altruistic gathering.

I think there are many who call themselves Christians who aren't. They grow up with it as a tradition but just go through the motions. Some people are frightened and hold on to it as a crutch. Some people are nuts and they get obsessed with a twisted form of it, the same as nutty people put their twited views and actions into any number of things. Some use it as a scam to make money in one way or another.

I have known Christians who were BEAUTIFUL people- like none I have ever known. It's like they just eminated this beautiful
goodness and warmth- and I loved to bask in their presence, lol.

idk. I'm not really into a lot of labels. I am a New Testament Christian basically- looking to the Old Testament as a History more or less. Believe me, Christians have a lot of small, differing beliefs that can blow up into long debates/discussions/arguments.

I personally have never met a Christian who was averse to money and success- only if it becomes the main thing in life that will get in the way of what is right. If it becomes one's "god". A lot of successes that also bring money to someone can also be beneficial to others and to society in various ways.

It's like I look at how outsourced manufacturing is done by slave wage workers and even child workers and I think it's morally wrong. To correct that would probably cause a monetary upheval for me and most people in western nations- at least temporarily. I would put up with that to end it and believe that my nation would eventually prosper even more after setting it straight, but would have to go through some loss of money for maybe even a decade.
