Lifetime (conservative) California resident here. It is tough to be a gun owner in this state. Our legislature is pathologically dedicated to eliminating guns entirely, although they swear that is not their goal. One practically needs to be a lawyer to decipher the hundreds of gun laws and remain legal.

The state hates handguns just as much as 'evil black rifles', hence the roster of 'not unsafe' handguns that are allowed to be sold here. Of course, law enforcement is exempt, so officers can openly carry loaded handguns in public that the state has deemed 'unsafe'. It makes no sense. Any other employer allowing or requiring their employees to use unsafe tools at work would have OSHA down their throats immediately.

Even though some of the laws have been deemed unconstitutional in Federal courts, the state has the decisions tied up in appeals forever. Our only real hope hear is that the Supreme Court takes up a few of these cases and hands the state a well-deserved smackdown.
