The guy didn't describe the weird smell. If it smells kind of like ammonia, it could be the rocket fuel "hydrazine", which is very toxic; if the cover story is to be believed about a failed rocket launch, crashing a couple of miles from the observatory, probably from White Sands.
Did anyone see any kind of "hazmat" response when they closed down the area last week?
