They carried with them pens with waterproof indelible ink and made them write their names and SS numbers on the inside of their forearms. One cop even handed out toe tags. While those who choose to stay are not entitled to bitch about lack of rescue, they have every right to remain. I have done so through 5 hurricanes coastal Florida. Made my own repairs. Never asked for insurance or FEMA compensation. Helped my neighbors and kept them informed. Cleaned up my own yard and flooding. I am 63. Have a chainsaw, used it myself. Took in elderly neighbors and animals.Gassed up and started my genny and ran lines to neighbors. Kept an eye out for looters. Lived 5 days to 3 weeks no power. Never noticed news stations or Red Cross around with compassion or charity.Daytona is off their radar. Night before Matthew and Irma, I was the only one left on my block. THe government has never done anything for my neigborhood. Some asshole government official wants to fine me? Screw them.
