Luckily the eye will be over the ocean when it hits this area, but I dont think there will be anything too major. Probably just downed trees and construction scaffolding, as well as flooding in low lying areas (seems the drainage systems here cant handle too much rain very well

Its in Chinese, but the city in the center of that red dashed circle is Guangzhou

That shows the eye hitting southwest of Guangzhou. I hope that doesn’t put more rural areas in danger. Do you know what it is classified as now? Categories 3,2, or 1 - although I think classification is different there.

My sleep schedule is a bit messed up since i was up all night watching football, but i just woke up because of a huge gust. Its getting pretty windy out, im starting to hope the big glass doors on my balcony can handle the wind haha. My apartment is on the 20th floor so its a bit creepy sometimes

Chinese nuclear power plant in path of Super Typhoon Mangkhut

A nuclear power plant stands just 30km (19 miles) from where Super Typhoon Mangkhut is expected to make landfall in mainland China, which could be as early as Sunday afternoon.

Workers at the Yangjiang Nuclear Power Station in Guangdong province, which has five generating units, each with 1,086 megawatts of capacity, and a sixth under construction, are preparing for the approaching storm. The plant is just 230 km away from Hong Kong.

“The Yangjiang nuclear power station stands in combat readiness to defend against Mangkhut,” said a message on the plant’s official WeChat account.
