Magnitude 5.4 in Western Australia WTF! Upgraded to a 5.6

It comes after two earthquakes were felt in the Great Southern earlier this week.

A magnitude 3.5 earthquake shook the ocean floor off Albany on Wednesday night. It started about 7.45pm and occurred about 10km below the ocean surface, about 150km off the coast.

Another 3.4 earthquake struck Walpole about 6.15pm on Thursday that occurred at a depth of 10km, less than 100km north of the town.

The Albany earthquakes created enough tremors to be felt at stations 2000km away.

I have been there in their MSM videos. I have not been there in the third. I would not survive the flight.

Mr Cummins said the earthquake was uncommonly large.

"You would expect to get a 5.6 (magnitude) maybe once every couple of years throughout Australia," he said.

are there any active Volcanos around there?

There was a quake on the ridge 4 hours before this. Ignore it being called "indian" it's 5,000km from India and the closest point is Australia near were the quake happened.

Maybe that set it off or what caused the Aussie quake set that off before it.

A 5.6 corresponds to a 250 kiloton nuclear test.

This was at a depth of 2 km or about 1.2 miles near or in a lake.

No. The only active volcano in Australia, is Big Ben, Heard Island, it's a very, very long way away. South West of where this earthquake hit, half way to Antarctica:

There are numerous non extinct volcanoes in Oz, that haven't had any activity for thousands of years, none in Western Australia though.

Near the lake, very shallow. People felt it 400 km's away.
The area is mostly bush or farms around there.
