You have been screwed. A single canal root canal takes at least 2 appts and at least 4 hours including anesthesia. My fee is $320. It must have been a molar and it is impossible to do 3 canals in an hour. Either he did a pulpotomy (partial) root canal and is not finished, you live in California.

There is a show on discovery channel I forget what it's called... odd jobs or worst jobs. Anywayz... he works with the septic cleaning guy and the work that he does gets shit on him. They have to move the stuff around to aerate it and it splashes and goes on you. They deserve the monies!

The people who do the exceedingly icky jobs most people would never want to do should be compensated accordingly. Nobody gives respect and admiration to the Roto-Rooter Guy. Who would want to take their Septic Tank Cleaning father to Career Day at school? There isn't a lot of bragging about being a shithole janitor. I won't begrudge anyone getting paid well to do the job that I wouldn't do no matter how much you paid me.

Standard dentist V's a cosmetic dentist… move up in your field. What's it cost to install a set of porcelain veneers 20K? and how many hours work is involved in that?

How is his job any less valuable than yours? Can you empty your own septic? Apparently not.

My husband does septics & sewer cleaning. They have to take your sewage to the treatment plant and pay .02-.05 per gallon for disposal. Average tank being about 1,000 gallons. The septic truck alone costs about $170,000 and up depending on size, etc. Figure in employee, fuel, insurance, overhead and everything else it's not bookoo profit.

Although, I will admit there's probably 70-100 sewer cleaners in our county and we all do well. Plenty of chit to go around. The sewer machine they carry into your basement weighs about 325 pounds and your pushing in and pulling out 100' of cable (also not light), it beats you up and you do get covered in chit. Sewer gas is lethal.

Your chit is our bread and butter ;)

Oh, and did someone say vacation? What's that? We're 24/7 service. Would you come to my house and pull my tooth at 3:00 a.m.? Imagine your basement flooding with chit and they tell you, take a pill and call me in the morning. Sorry, but my husband works his butt off and deserves what he makes. We can't go anywhere without that pager going off. There's no 9-5 around here. He had an infection before from sewer splatter. His whole face was swollen. It is dangerous.
