Russia is in Syria by invitation of SYRIA. They are in the process of cleansing the country of radical islamist militants that have been slauthering people(literally).

Bashar Al Assad's Syria was a peacful and safe country for everyone(including christians), until western backed rebels(islamist throatslitters) started destroying the country.

Russia hasn't made an attempt to conquer southern Ukraine. Of course Ukrainians are free to travel to Odessa.
