The body of Bernadette Soubirous does not decompose after her death. She died 140 years ago.
Bernadette Soubirous (7 January 1844 – 16 April 1879) was the firstborn daughter of a miller from Lourdes, France, and is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church.

Bernadette Soubirous is best known for the Marian apparitions of a young lady who asked for a chapel to be built at the nearby cave-grotto at Massabielle where apparitions are said to have occurred between 11 February and 16 July 1858. She would later receive recognition when the lady who appeared to her identified herself as the Immaculate Conception.

I wonder why none of the cloths or fabrics have deteriorated. Could the builders of the coffin have removed the air from it thus keeping the body in a life like state?

Amazing.. I've been to the grotto in Lourdes, France.

It's truly an amazing place. Everyone who goes there experiences a miracle of some sort.

I detested how outside or up above there are so many shops and tourist traps.. It takes away from the whole idea of what happened.

It's a very tiny area and huge tourist buses and cars are driving down into this ravine area. Just crazy.

When you walk down the path into the grotto, it is free from all the tourism.

Re: The body of Bernadette Soubirous does not decompose after her death. She died 140 years ago.
With the Vatican’s support, the team studied microenviornments in the former tombs of incorrupt corpses. They discovered that small differences in temperature, moisture, and construction techniques lead to some tombs producing naturally preserved bodies while others in the same church didn’t. Now you can debate God’s role in choosing which bodies went into which tombs before these differences were known, but I’m going to stick with the corpses. Once the incorrupt bodies were removed from these climates or if the climates changed, they deteriorated.

She was very open about the history of the body so there wasn’t any denial about its current condition or past treatments. Yep, incorruptibles get treatments (like a corpse spa) and it’s no big secret.

It clearly says the woman had flesh that would mildew and rot so the church hired a wax company to go in and cover up the dead spots. Same with her hands. But I bet up under that habit is nothing but skeleton. Hell I could keep my great great grandma looking all pretty for years after her death too if I had the wax and want.
No miracle here.

They are preserving the bodies somehow. Even Moses' bones were buried. There's no reason why God would pick and choose like that. A lot of frauds in the Catholic denomination deceiving people into worshiping anyone but Jesus Christ the only God.
Jesus Christ is God. Read the Holy Bible, keep his commandments, obey all of his commands, save your soul.

I have a theory on how this might work.

I believe some people come into contact with the holy spirit like Padre Pia and Bernadette. However holy people from other religions such as buddhists have also not decomposed.

I believe when a person regularly comes into contact with God's perfect light, it somehow changes their aura, and that light sticks around to protect their body after death.
