How I cured my severe Insomnia | |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 76372112 United States 09/25/2018 12:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I used to have severe insomnia for years. I became extra sensitive to white refined sugar after having a sweet tooth in childhood. I dont have diabetes but sugar was acting like a mild cocaine in my brain where I would still have racing thoughts even when I was tired and laying down. I was also low on B vitamins Quoting: FROSTED I cut out white sugar from my diet, unless its in miniscule amounts like sauces and bread. Basically I cut out deserts and candy and sugared drinks Im sure to eat whole grains everyday like two slices of whole wheat bread I now fall asleep within 20 minutes when it used to take up to 5 hours to fall asleep. It took a couple of weeks to see full results but it changed my life, Id probaly be dead from fatigue by now if I never learned this about my body Sweeteners like honey and maple syrup and stevia are okay, it is only white refined sugar that gave me problems I know some may stop by here and say they cured their insomnia thru meds or relaxation techniques .But my method is simple, it just goes back to how to eat naturally before excessive manufacturing methods that strip nutrients out of food Insomnia is the bodys way of screaming for help, trying to tell the person its lacking, missing something in the diet If you go with natures way, the human body can respond and take care of itself . |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72341210 All older people require less sleep. That is not insomnia but normal. You don't need more than six hours when you are an old fart. About 4 hrs for me, but I do take a little catnap now days, never used to. I only need four. That is fairly standard for old farts...and still chop wood. |

Ya, this old lady still cuts and chops my own wood too, grow and butcher my food, fix my own rigs and do all the repair work on the house and barn. Nothing like hard work to keep you young and a good nights sleep. |

Quoting: Vision Thing Don't take supplements, just eat a well balanced diet. Supplements are not needed and can/do cause much more damage. A good balanced diet with exercise is all we need to maintain our health. |

His theory was men are tamed so much by civilization that inside they rage against this extremely unnatural lifestyle and end up getting depressed by it. He said that the best way to deal with stress is hard ass physical labor like chopping wood. I think a heavy bag and some boxing gloves are better. Just beat the tar out of the bag and you will be exhausted and sleep like a baby. Those old human shaped boxing targets are great but a standard boxing heavy bag is cheaper and long lasting. Keep your guard up. |

If so, then high frutose corn syrup is the crack-cocaine equivalent! Maybe we all need to cut down and eliminate sweets - especially before bedtime. Asian desserts for example or only mildly sweet, just a hint. I take melatonin for my insomnia. Goid thread 5 stars. |
