NO HARD DATA on this, either... but, I'm thinking shelf-life is very LONG due to the packaging which always seems to be heavy, vacuum-sealed mylar pounches that should retain potency until opened. Freezing shouldn't really impact an unopened pouch.

Not sure you want to keep it in the freezer at all. Moisture is the enemy and there will be condensation.

I've always heard store in a cool, dark, and dry space. The oldest I have is about a year-and-a-half (opened, re-sealed). I don't notice a decrease in potency. I've gone to putting it into dark amber glass jars with a desiccant pack after it's opened. Probably no better, but it's tidier.

Been using it on and off for 12 years. It gives good pain relief. The only problem I've noticed with it is a kind of rebound effect several hours after it wears off...a short-lived feeling of extreme anger. It's been uncomfortable enough that I stopped taking it for awhile. Anybody else have this reaction? Is there a way to mitigate it? It's unpleasant.

Although skilled at cooking with CannaButter [thanks to a grow tent that is now packed away] I've never tried cooking with Kratom... but I plan on giving it a try and am expecting alot of trial-and-error. Since some Fat content seems to be essential in fully dissolving the very fine Kratom powder, I may start with Butter that Cannabis requires to\ release/retain the desireable properties.

If I can find some good seeds, I may just unpack that grow-tent and try my hand at Kratom cultivation!

Not the freezer, just sealed in a dark, cool place. I have some from years ago that has the same potency as when I bought it. I would bet it lasts indefinately. For detailed info on substances go to the Erowid Vaults online. That's where I researched it initially. Side note: I know people who it has absolutely no effect on. But it works for me.

That's the same company actually. And it comes in really solid vacuum packed bags and is dehydrated, so it will keep a really, really long time. Just keep it in a non humid and generally dark environment. Should keep a decade perhaps.

LOL I was just wondering what kind of spice could hide that awful taste in a cookie. I hate the smell and taste.

I would think a soft, low fiber cookie so you can get it down quick without much chewing.

A dark environment shouldn't be an issue, either, especially if you keep most of it in the original Mylar pouch. And, since you usually have to ingest at least a gram for noticeable effects [again, this VARIES not only person-to-person but also strain-to-strain!] you are still taking about 4 size #00 capsules per dose. At that rate of consumption, I don't think a loss of potency should be a very big issue for anyone. Just another PLUS for the Big-K!

Chocolate works well for me! I mix 1-gram+ of K with two envelopes of that instant Cocoa Mix you find everywhere for about $1.50 for a box of ten pouches. And, you even have marshmallows as an option! It can be mixed either hot or cold [I prefer it ice-cold] or even mixed in a blender with Ice cream into a very "special" shake!

For a bsic drink, you just mix the K with WATER since the cocoa mix already contains Milk solids and trace amounts of Fat for full dissolution. A good shot of Chocolate syrup and the flavor is masked really well! BTW: SHAKE don't STIR!!

BTW: I'm also a little Lactose-intolerate so the cocoa mix doesn't bother me, either.

FYI: different strains of Kratom also have varying intensities of bitterness. So far, the White strains seem to be the least-intense for my taste buds.

Kratom is as different as "the ground its grown in" and whites or reds have the most chance of the "anger" feeling. Don't eat that one, try another red or green....whites seem to be "racy" on me

Otherwise, I brew it in a tea (use empty tea bags - available at health food/natural food stores or on Amazon). Despite the nasty taste of the raw stuff, the tea is quite alright with a bit of lemon juice and sweetened.

Not so easy to grow here. I know a grower in the ozarks that sells to cali and its ALL greenhouse. Too cold. They just die.
Oh and plants are $50 apiece too and hard to start from seed.
We have the space, no investor or the start up.

I have to live an "on duty" life. I got by on hydrocodone and soma 10 years and drank a lot of coffee.
Then i switched. All in one and made out of what I am made of.

Kratom is in NO WAY even close to an opiate addiction. People who have used kratom daily for several years have kicked kratom just by not using it. With no stronger withdrawals than coffee. A couple of days of a headache and a little out of sorts.


Lots of people successfully use kratom to get OFF of opiates, including heroin.

Research the red and green vein strains for pain. Red is a bit more sedating, green less so. They all make me sleepy after a while lol

Do your own research!! Do not take anyones word here. Dont bother calling the kratom vendors because they will tell you they are not doctors and by the law they have to put not for human consumption on their labels. Dont waste your time buying the junk from gas stations and truck stops. I have seen okay stuff from vape shops but its rich mans prices. In all my time i have spent in kratom threads and online, i have never heard of heart problems being a reason not to take it. Do your own research! Personally i take a red or white meang da and i buy from gaia ethnobotanicals because of the quality control and prices but there are many other vendors out there. Ebay, to me, is a risk for getting junk.

I freeze mine because i think no mold can grow inside. I have kept some in the freezer for 6 months with no problem. I have even opened a kilo and refilled some into my daily sugar can supply with no problems

Red plantation and red elephant are the ones i like. I have the whites of those versions too and they are just as good.

I have electrical/conduction issues with my heart, but it's never aggravated my condition. But, every substance in every (physical) body is different.
