Quoting: g0v That's why we need government so badly! I agree...right up until I'm on final approach and your 500 dollar drone takes out my 2.8 million dollar engine on my Citation and hopefully doesn't kill me in the process. True. But I don't think the government will allow drone flyers to do that even if they pay a license fee. And what many forget is, terrorists flying a drone with 3 pounds of C4 strapped to it won't bother following any rules. For that reason, the only defense of offense: planes will need to be designed with drone detectors and fitted with drone killers. That's the only surefire way to protect them. "When they ban drones, only criminals will have drones" Heard anything similar before? It’s all about taxing the law-abiding suckers. |

The FAA didn't want to lose money on aerial filming by pilots so the MSM pushed the dangerous drone story everyday. Once the FAA got its way and only a guy with a pilots license could use a drone for commercials filming plus had to pay the FAA their cut then the constant news reports ended. Then keep ratcheting up the restrictions until no one can participate. Same reason we are against licensing of firearms by the Feds. Yep, i can see it now. The ever so increasing "War On Drones". Seems similar to the "War On Drugs" in certain ways. Which Congress right now is attempting to greatly expand by closing the Loophole in the Controlled Substances Act. As of right now Analogs of Controlled Substances including Illegal ones are in a grey area of the law. They can technically legally be bought online as Research Chemicals which are clearly labeled "NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION"... SITSA has already passed the house & is now sitting in the Senate. If it's signed into law it will attempt to close this Loophole & place over 400 more Substances into Schedule 1. I hope it doesn't become law because nearly half if not over half of these Substances are Hallucinogens... Hell, I've got a shitload of technically legal Acid(1P-LSD & ALD-52) sitting next to me in my collection right now both of which breakdown into LSD-25 when consumed. Who the fuck is the Government to tell anyone they can't participate in Altered States Of Consciousness??? hotdogg User ID: 76951648 United States 09/28/2018 12:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Around larger city airports there is "Class B" airspace which restricts flights into that airspace. Near the airports (usually within 10nm), the restriction starts at ground level, so any aircraft, manned or unmanned, must have communications with the controlling FAA facility. R/C flyers and model rocketeers know this... A good sized drone wouldn't be good going through a jet engine...or a windscreen |

Soon drones won't need a radio connection to a human operator to achieve a pre-planned route, thanks to advances in visual navigation. If they can't jam them, it's a huge problem, because it's not that easy to stop a small vehicle that requires no outside input to navigate. |

Not everyone can afford to insure everything they own, and it's a pointless pain in the ass anyway. Insurance is often a scam if you're careful with what you do, and we should have the right to choose. Just let people do what they want, and if they ACTUALLY hurt anyone, punish them. Simple as that. Bureaucracy just makes things worse for everyone. People need to stop being so scared of everything... I feel like EVERYTHING even remotely dangerous will be banned in the future if this keeps up. Life is dangerous sometimes; we need to man up and deal with it instead of babying us with laws(I'm looking at you, anti-drug retards who think you have the right to tell us how we can use our own consciousness, as well as anti-gun people). Think of all the stuff drones are useful for, that the government would like to regulate. They can even be used as weapons, with retrofitting, and that's WAY too close to the original meaning of 2A (you can have whatever armaments are current -- not just muskets!) to be allowed for long. |

If amazon can deliver a package to your doorstep for a insignificant cost, then so can a terrorist. When rudimentary AI starts to get weaponized we have a huge problem on our hands. It's one thing to get a person to commit suicide in order to deliver a significant blow to an enemy. It's quite another to have a 500$ toy do it. Psychopaths shooting up schools will pale in comparison to remote untraceable AI drone attacks. It is going to be a nightmare. Mix with our current polarized political environment and we could have a domestic catastrophe in very short order. Drone doom is going to very rapidly become a thing.
