Perhaps I should have deleted derogatory comments and the theological disputes...I did not primarily because I believe in free speech and exchange of ideas...to a point....I wanted to see what kind of responses would be to what I wrote, if any at all...

I am so very grateful for those who read my original posts and decided commented positively...to participate in their individual homes....to others, I respect your right to an opinion, even if I do not agree....

I got about 6 red karma things for this thread.....having never given anyone red, to be the target of such vitriol was and is somewhat bewildering as I consider someone would be so upset at the suggestion of prayer and fasting,..... i.e., a personal commitment to Christ as He is perceived by myself and those who expressed approval/participation....underscores my reasoning in posting this....in other words, why do you care or what does it matter to you and why are you upset at the suggestion of praying/communion to Jesus Christ?

I know by there thread titles there is a lot of negative energy out there, and just surfing on the Internet....but there are a lot of good people on here and I prefer to look for the good...

As to the poster who made fun of my handle for a Christian person...yes, I get that...I picked that name for a free account after a bunch of others I wanted were taken....plus I didn't think I would post here much, if at all...

I am thinking about changing my handle, trying to think of another name.

Finally, I felt called to post this, a weird feeling hard to explain, that I needed to speak up...partly due to the length of time of the FBI investigation given, but also due to the anniversary today of the tragic Vegas shooting and later this week, the anniversary of the death of Tom Petty. I grew up with his music and all this talk of 82 and the 80s recently, makes me keenly aware of the 5 decades+ I have been on this rock revolving around the sun, how things have changed, and the fact that tomorrow is not promised for us .....

and that another 36 years (1982)will go by at the same rate (2054--what a thought!).and the decisions we make today create the realities we deal with and our children will deal with in 2054 and beyond...hopefully...but I remember in 83 thinking we might not make it to like 2013 and my 30th HS reunion...and yet here,vwe are....

So yeah, I believe in Jesus Christ...and I have read up on the Cathars, the Catholics, the Mason's and the Gnostics....saw Knowing and Cloud Atlas, Atlas Shrugged, etc.....welcome intelligent discussion but may start deleting anyone who is being obnoxious as my time on GLP permits, out of respect for myself and others who don't want to read it...as I have a real job and family I may not be able to get to it, so feel free to ignore them until I can delete...

I willingly pray regularly for those who ask for here, not always posting about and sometimes posting in other threads asking for prayer as I have challenges, as have most of us here...I feel like there are many who come here as I do for entertainment and information...kindred spirits if you will who love their country and Jesus Christ!

Fasting is for muslims not Christians.

The King James Bible speaks to fasting and prayer.

It is written in Matthew 6:16, "when you fast", not if you fast.

There are three types of fasts commonly practiced:

Partial fast – Described in the book of Daniel where for three weeks he abstained only from “delicacies,” meat and wine (Daniel 10:3).

Supernatural fast – These are total fasts--no food (solid or liquid) and no water. Paul went on an absolute fast for three days following his encounter with Jesus (Acts 9:9). Moses and Elijah engaged in a supernatural absolute fast of forty days (Deuteronomy 9:9; 1 Kings 19:8). This kind of fast should be done with great care. Our bodies cannot go without water for more than three days.

Complete fast – Water or juice fasting, especially when fasting for an extended period. Juice fasts will provide you with more energy than water-only fasts and still lead you into the humbling experience of denying your desire for solid, chewable food.

The Normal Fast: The normal fast involves abstaining from all forms of food but not from water, and commonly lasts 24 hours, from sunrise to sunrise. According to The Foods and Nutrition Encyclopedia, “For healthy individuals, no harm results from short-term fasting.”

I can't imagine a christian fasting. Those people can eat more cake than there is cake in the world.
