Check shroomery in the ID and hunting board.

Possibly some old man in the woods. Aminitas, maybe deadly maybe the mild drunken psycadellic muscamol, maybe both
some not so special,
Maybe a bolete the yellow and red or it could be a big laughing gym but that's probably wishful thinking
Little red cap ones look like an inedible russala, the sickener

Always check spore surfaces, underside
And always make a spore print as this will usually be the most important aspect to differentiate from look a likes

The trusted Identifier tag guys on that forum are good but it's still gonna be up to you to check and double check.

Re: Mushrooms in tha woods
Yeah, you wanna know what you've got for sure. Can't just go stomping into the woods and start eating stuff if you don't know what it is. That's a recipe for disaster.

There are beginner type mushrooms that have no look a likes or its too far off to mistake. For instance, a morels is pretty easy and considered beginner friendly although there is a look a like that has a stem that goes through to the cap while morels will be connected directly stem to cap. It's a good thing to have experience with plants because a lot of the mindset can be rolled over.

It's good to start with a few easy ones. Spring is morel and pheasant back buttons and those are pretty simple.
Depends on your area but this time of year we can expect shaggy manes and hen of the woods, chicken of the woods are all easy id's. The artists conk is usually around and Turkey tails(a couple look a likes here like the violet toothed pollypore) all times of the year. Oysters, king oysters, fall oyster(green back)

That site I mentioned has a lot of info. If u haven't been they might have a nice time with your video. I like learn your land channel on yt. A few others. Books are good and you can probably find a group in your area to help you.

I'm just a rookie in ways with just a couple years into it lightly and I've got a decent book. tho I've picked some winter mushrooms(enokie) and they've got a deadly look a like (galarina). Picking up differences between those is what you want. Some tho you'll need a spore Print to really know. It's always good to have. Especially your first few times.

It seems like there's a lot of intimidation around the subject that keeps us from it but after your first few times the confidence goes up.

Lots of medicinal value out there just like with plants. It's a huge resource if you know how to tap it. And of course tptb would rather us not know ..about anything really.

Lions mane. You can't miss that one and there's no look a likes just 3 different subspecies.. sorta. Idk if that's the right term.

You'll pick it up. Just like plants tho you'll come across a lot of 'useless' not useless but not edible or medicinal.

Details. Color. What are they growing on wood or ground. It all builds the picture and once you start to recognize it's as easy as iding goldenrod or plantain. Or noting the differences between a red oak and a pin oak.

if you want a fungi feast check out laetiporus sulphureus should be easy to spot and identify, and you get a big haul. they're under oak trees this time of the year.

Re: Mushrooms in tha woods
I just got into hunting mushrooms this year. I found a huge chicken of the woods, it was HUGE and very good. I have pictures of many other types. I am in the process of doing spore analysis on them. It is pretty interesting. I also found a puff ball, lions mane, turkey tail as well what looks like the magical kind. (I won't be eating those, LOL) There are a couple of facebook groups that will help you identify what you have found.

It is important to document what they were growing on, if they have spores underneath or gills, if they have rings around their stems as well as checking the color of the spores. You do that by pulling the stem off and placing the cap face down on a white piece of paper and covering it with a glass bowl over night. The mushroom releases its spores. The color released will help in the identification process.

My dog, loves my new hobby as he gets to spend more times in the woods with the squirrels.

Certain Mushrooms are incredible in augmenting and inducing the Mind.

I find Fly Agarics to be much too strong, for proper body and mind control.

I had some serendipity in Jamaica however, when the Jamaicans introduced to me, the healing effects of Psilocybe Cubensis. ..It made a World of difference to Me:):):)

No need foe Ayahuasca ….lolsign

I know enough about mushrooms in the woods to know not eat mushrooms in the woods.

I've read that even some "mushroom experts" end up killing themselves by mistakenly consuming what they thought were edible mushrooms.

Avoid red tops and crumbs.
Don't eat anything you're not certain about.

But fungi are awesome. I have delicious memories of wild puffballs and chanterelles.

Umm no...mushrooms can NEVER save your life in a SHTF situation. While tasty, they have hardly any calories and can easily kill you.

those are amanita muscaria and they contain muscimol and ibotenic acid, mostly concetrated in the red 'skin' on the top of the cap.

people eat these to 'trip' but the effects are vastly different than psilocybin mushshrooms.

the trip is frantic, you sweat, spasm, people have gone into convulsions and all kinds of shit. oddly these psychoactive substanced are not listed as a controlled substance, but psilocybin is?

i've heard of people removing the red outer membrane from amanita muscaria, drying it, rolling it, and smoking it. supposedly that's an enjoyable method for using muscimol but i have no experience with that.

they're in the genus amanita which does contain the most deadly of all mushrooms.

those look about the same except they're all white with a large underground bulb.

Careful when picking white puff balls because young Destryoing Angels may appear to be a small puff ball. always bisect your puffballs to make sure the inside looks like a piece of white bread. if you see an umbra shape like a developing mushroom inside, you know it's a deadly amanita.

honestly don't fuck with any amanitas. the 'trip' from muscaria and pantherina are unpleasant and quite scary to watch.

Yes, what you wrote earlier. I use mushrooms only for eating anyway, I never pick them for any other purpose.

In our woods the green amarita is the only deadly one. The most favorite one is Porcini. [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)]

I got them whole basket last month from uncle, so much I had to put them in the freezer. He owns some woods and knows all the places, its no problem for him to find large forest glades of it.
