Two separate concepts:

Innocent until proven guilty
Believe someone unless you have a reason not to

I think the republicans are playing this smarter than we might think. I know I am screaming at the TV saying there's NO WAY this is believable, why are they all saying this?

It's a fairness precedent. It's a standard that says "We the republicans ARE NOT going to assume the worst without enough proof. We will give ANYONE, REGARDLESS OF POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY, the benefit of the doubt"

When the democrats' evil tactics are exposed, and the republicans become a supermajority, we need this philosophy. I think the are waiting on confirmation and will let the FBI with evidence and professionals like Rachel Mitchel do the job of tearing her story to shreds.

The feeling everyone will have when this is over is that republicans gave the benefit of the doubt, did not engage in reverse or defensive character assassination, and held the higher ground.

I personally think all these people know the story is BS and politically motivated, but they are setting a very humane precedent that may serve us all well in the aftermath

Just my two cents

The Dems rely on emotions over facts

Her facts don’t add up

I saw that and am in complete agreement with you I'm just offering a possible explanation why seemingly intelligent people are refusing to blow her ridiculous story to shreds. This theory highlights exactly what you said - If both are believable, republicans are going to rely on professionals and evidence (even when the truth is much more in favor of Kav). If both are believable, democrats are only going to believe democrats (even when the truth is much more in favor of Kav).

This is being set up to highlight the double standard BIGLY!

I think there is a plan to unleash the truth about her story, and the media/repub senators have to wait for a "signal"

It really doesn't make sense that EVERYONE says she's so beleivable. Can anyone else think why even former prosecutors seem to parroting the "both stories are credible" narrative? It's maddening

They're doing it for the same reason they had a female questioning Ford. They think it is a must that it appears they are not trying to abuse her with their toxic while masculinity.

Probably the right play initially but now that we've heard Ford's testimony and just how bad/fake it was it might be time to get a little tougher.

Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.

Yeah, I guess my theory may have been overly hopeful, rather than just being scared and politically correct

This seems the most plausible explanation to me. But now that her lies are being exposed, that stance can (and probably should) be walked back. Don't have to call her a vicious lying slut, but just calmly point out the glaring inconsistencies; and for goodness sake, stop saying the word "credible."
