The Cave of Treasures
What do youthink is the meaning of the parable?

The cave of treasures.
gnostic gospel
excerpt

SATAN'S ATTACK ON ADAM AND EVE

And when Satan saw that Adam and Eve were happy and joyful in Paradise, that Rebel was smitten sorely with jealousy, and he became filled with wrath. And he went and took up his abode in the serpent, and he raised him up, and made him to fly through the air to the skirts of Mount [Eden] whereon was Paradise .
devil6
Now, why did Satan enter the body of the serpent and hide himself therein?
sockpuppet
Because he knew that his appearance was foul, and that if Eve saw his form, she would betake herself to flight straightway before him. Now, the man who wished to teach the Greek language to a bird--now the bird that can learn the speech of men is called "babbaghah" (i.e. parrot)--first bringeth a large mirror and placeth between himself and the bird. He then beginneth to talk to the bird, and immediately the parrot heareth the voice of the man, it turneth round, and when it seeth its own form [reflected] in the mirror, it becometh pleased straightway, because it imagineth that a fellow parrot is talking to it. Then it inclineth its ear with pleasure, and listeneth to the words of the man who is talking to it, and it becometh eager to learn, and to speak Greek. In this manner (i.e. with the object of making Eve believe that it was the serpent that spoke to her) did Satan enter in and dwell in the serpent, and he watched for the opportunity, and [when] he saw Eve by herself, he called her by her name. And when she turned round towards him, she saw her own form [reflected] in him, and she talked to him; and Satan led her astray with his lying words, because the nature of woman is soft (or, yielding).

And when Eve had heard from him concerning that tree, straightway she ran quickly to it, and she plucked the fruit of disobedience from the tree of transgression of the command, and she ate. Then immediately she found herself stripped naked, and she saw the hatefulness of her shame, and she ran away naked, and hid herself in another tree, and covered her nakedness with the leaves thereof. And she cried out to Adam, and he came to her, and she handed to him some of the fruit of which she had eaten, and he also did eat thereof. And when he had eaten he also became naked, and he and Eve made girdles for their loins of the leaves of the fig-trees; and they were arrayed in these girdles of ignominy for three hours. At mid-day they received [their] sentence of doom. And God made for them tunics of skin which was stripped from the trees, that is to say, of the bark of the trees, because the trees that were in Paradise had soft barks, and they were softer than the byssus and silk wherefrom the garments worn by kings are made. And God dressed them in this soft skin, which was thus spread over a body of infirmities.

At the third hour of the day Adam and Eve ascended into Paradise, and for three hours they enjoyed the good things thereof; for three hours they were in shame and disgrace, and at the ninth hour their expulsion from Paradise took place.

Re: The Cave of Treasures
It doesn't seem to pass itself off as a parable.

Soon after they ate the apple the curse of God Jesus made things to begin to decay, corrupt and die. He could have taken recently deceased animals and skinned them or he could have killed living animals and skinned them.

Genesis 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

Either way their skins come from animals. Adam and Eve knew that they did wrong and took their mind off God Jesus and put it on themselves. They symbolically tried to cover their internal shame with external means and is why God asks who told them they are naked?

Soon after Jesus made them clothes from animal skins they began to sacrifice to the Lord. They had to have been made aware that only God Jesus can cleanse them and atone for their sins, symbolically being killed by his Father as the animals (likely lambs) were killed by Jesus. They were likely given understanding of the process of atonement and is why they made sacrifice now that their minds were taken off Jesus and put on their own lusts thereby causing them to sin from time to time. They had to understand that there is nothing they could do to make right with God but by the shedding of blood would their lives be restored.

Genesis 4:3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

Trusting in the promises of God Jesus while remaining obedient to his will until they are fulfilled is all we can do.
Jesus Christ is God. Read the Holy Bible, keep his commandments, obey all of his commands, save your soul.

i ll try to clarify a little these terms

in ancienttimes, evil was personified in monsters, representing chaos, disorder.

contemporary christian view of an inteligent devil is foreign to the old world. vedic view on evil is exactly opposite. evil is personified in the demon of ignorance. the Lord SHiva is often pictured as standing on the head of the demon Apasvara, symbolizing the victory of the universal mind over human ignorance

worms have not been so much involved in mythiology. in the norse mythology, there is a worm, that grows into a snake.

Snakes have been present in mythologies since they exist, so its no wonder that snake symbolism is very manifold and complex. one of the oldes snake symbols is Ouroboros.

ROBOTdance

Ouroboros - The snake eating its own tail

it is assumed that the infinity symbol was derived from the original symbol of ouroboros.
Snakes being animals shedding off their old skin periodically in a cyclic manner to renew themselves/their physical existence is the perfect analogy for life being recreated out of death, in other words, for rebirth through death.

All beings are created/born out of/come from the nature, they exist and live by becoming a part of the nature. At the end, they return to the nature through death and become whole with it again until they are reborn in some different form.

flower

Ouroboros is a symbol which has been used widely in many different cultures throughout the world during the course of history.
In the Middle Eastern culture, Mithra, a divine being (or a God according to some beliefs), which was believed to be reborn, was sometimes depicted with an ouroboros around his waist or encircling his whole body.
In the artworks of the ancient Hindu culture, the serpent in ouroboros symbol was depicted encircling the tortoise holding on its back the four elephants carrying the world.
It is also believed that the Milky Way galaxy is the source of inspiration for the infinity symbol. Some of the myths regarding the infinity symbol tell us of a serpent of light living in Heaven. The Milky Way galaxy, which has the shape of a circle, was considered as the serpent in these myths.

like snakes, goat as well have in old times not been symbols of evil, but they could have been sacrificed in place of others. in this sense their are similar to sacrificial lambs, and can be given as sacrifices to appease God.

but that was not the only symbolism tied to goats. THey had also a more divine aspect of being prophetic protectors of herds.

Scape goat

Ancient Syria

A concept superficially similar to the biblical scapegoat is attested in two ritual texts in archives at Ebla of the 24th century BC.[13] They were connected with ritual purification on the occasion of the king's wedding. In them, a she-goat with a silver bracelet hung from her neck was driven forth into the wasteland of "Alini"; "we" in the report of the ritual involves the whole community. Such "elimination rites", in which an animal, without confession of sins, is the vehicle of evils (not sins) that are chased from the community are widely attested in the Ancient Near East.[14]
Ancient Greece

The Ancient Greeks practiced a scapegoating rite in which a cripple or beggar or criminal (the pharmakos) was cast out of the community, either in response to a natural disaster (such as a plague, famine or an invasion) or in response to a calendrical crisis (such as the end of the year). The scholia refer to the pharmakos being killed, but many scholars reject this, and argue that the earliest evidence (the fragments of the iambic satirist Hipponax) only show the pharmakos being stoned, beaten and driven from the community.[15]

Goat god – Pan - prophetic protector of shepherds

Part man and part goat, Pan was the god of wild groves, shepherds, and flocks. Born in Arcadia to Hermes and a Dryad, Pan was a precocious child whose goat’s feet and horned head delighted gods, but startled mortals. Nymphs weren’t too happy with his looks either and, as much as Pan loved them, they almost never loved him back. One of them, Syrinx, chose to be transformed into marsh reeds to save herself from Pan’s advances. Pan cut the reeds and joined them side by side in decreasing order, thus creating the very first set of panpipes. Ever since then, he was rarely seen without the instrument.

PAN was the god of shepherds and hunters, and of the meadows and forests of the mountain wilds.
Pan was depicted as a man with the horns, legs and tail of a goat, a thick beard, snub nose and pointed ears
he was the god of forests, pastures, flocks, and shepherds, and dwelt in grottoes (Eurip. Ion, 501; Ov. Met. xiv. 515), wandered on the summits of mountains and rocks, and in valleys, either amusing himself with the chase, or leading the dances of the nymphs.
As the god of flocks, both of wild and tame animals, it was his province to increase them and guard them
during the heat of mid day he used to slumber, and was very indignant when any one disturbed him. (Theocrit. i. 16.) As god of flocks, bees also were under his protection, as well as the coast where fishermen carried on their pursuit.
As the god of every thing connected with pastoral life, he was fond of music, and the inventor of the syrinx or shepherd's flute, which he himself played in a masterly manner, and in which he instructed others also,
He is said to have had a terrific voice (Val. Flacc. iii. 31), and by it to have frightened the Titans in their fight with the gods.
He was at the same time believed to be possessed of prophetic powers, and to have even instructed Apollo in this art.

Re: The Cave of Treasures

The Kundalini Serpent:
Discover The Meaning Behind This Ancient Symbol

Kundalini, the raw, static energy that supports all life, is often depicted as a serpent. Why a serpent? Snakes has been revered (and feared) for millenia as a powerful representation of life force or universal energy.
Kundalini Energy & The Coiled Serpent

Historic and modern day symbolism of Kundalini energy shows a coiled serpent resting at the base of the human spine. Kundalini is also illustrated as two serpents intertwined around one another as they climb the spine. Interestingly enough, the shape of the serpent coupling is nearly identical to the design of double helix DNA.

A widely-recognized, mainstream depiction of serpent coupling is associated with medicine. Originating in Greek mythology, the caduceus is two serpents coiled around Hermes’ walking stick, which is crowned with wings.

Meaning of The Three Coils

When you see illustrations of the Kundalini serpent, odds are it is coiled upon itself three and one half times. Yes, the number of coils is intentional.

The number three is representative of the states of consciousness, while the half represents the transcendent, or higher, consciousness — which must be awakened in order to commune with the Divine.

The three coils can also be interpreted as representations of the past, present, and future; and the half coil symbolizing transcendent time (timelessness).

Kundalini Yoga and its Vedic Connection

By Yogi Baba Prem

Within the Vedas we do find a variety of names and references to the kundalini, while these are two numerous to list; we do find a few such as kundal or Shaya[1] to name a few.

But the most important Vedic deity associated with the kundalini is Agni and Surya. Agni is the kundalini energy, while Surya is not the kundalini per se, it is the kundalini in its triumph or full awakening. Surya is the kundalini having moved to the crown chakra. The source of all Shakti. This is often referenced as the sun being hidden and revealed in the Vedic journey.

While some systems place more importance on the heart chakra than the crown chakra, this is not in conflict. In reality, the heart and crown chakra are connected via a nadi known as chitta nadi. This explains the strong association with the sun (Surya) with the head (crown chakra) and the heart (anahata chakra). Within numerous later yoga texts, we find references to the kundalini/Surya connection. Within the 'Hatha Yoga Pradipika', the kundalini is often described as having the brilliance of a thousand suns. We find teachings of the sacred Mount Meru within Hinduism. From a yogic perspective, the sacred Meru is represented physically by the spinal column.

The journey of awakening the kundalini begins with Ushas. Ushas represents the dawn or more correctly the spiritual dawn. She is our aspiration toward spiritual awakening. The spiritual journey begins with the grace of the spiritual dawn. Though she is called a variety of names in different cultures, in all systems of truth, Ushas is the aspiration for realization.

Once our aspiration is strong enough, we begin one of the great Vedic battles. The Vedic battle between Indra and Vrtra is our internal battle between our higher spiritual desires and the ego. Indra is the warrior (our higher consciousness) that defeats Vrtra (who is the brother or shadow of Indra—ego); the victory of Indra releases the waters. This is one of the main Vedic stories of slaying a dragon (avarana shakti) and releasing the rivers to flow into the sea.

The battle between Indra and Vrtra opens the way for several additional Vedic deities, which are namely Vayu and the Ashvins. Vayu is the deity of the air, which indicates that it is the ruler of prana, the life-force energy. Within the 'Rg Veda,' it is taught that the Ashvins are responsible for the movement of the sun (Surya). They are responsible for the movement of Agni to the state or transformation into the state of Surya. The awakening of the kundalini involves the prana, not just prana itself, but specific forms of prana, which are represented by the Ashvins. The Ashvins represent healing, which is one of the qualities of the two major forms of prana. It is the two major forms of prana (the Ashvins) that is responsible for the kundalini awakening; and their ruler is Vayu, the lord of prana. In other words, the deities represent the higher forms of cosmic principles.

Re: The Cave of Treasures
The Serpent Goddess

Persius says,"Pinge duos anguea; pueri, sacer est locos." "Paint two snakes, and the place is sacred."

The ancient theme of mother nature in the form of the serpent goddesses ruling supreme over the earth and its inhabitants has been taught for thousands of years.

Plutarch had said that this idea of Nature as a female and mother superior to all the other divinities came to us from the ancient holy island Crete. The meaning of the name Crete is to create, and it was the official birthplace of all Western manufactured civilization.
[link to gnosticwarrior.com (secure)]

One of the prime pieces of evidence in support of the view that women dominated Minoan culture is the "Snake Goddess." The grounds for this view were laid by Arthur Evans himself. It is clear from the model of Minoan religion constructed by Evans that he was influenced by the theories put forward by James Frazer in The Golden Bough (first published in 1890) that prehistoric religion centred on a dominant goddess of fertility whose young male consort's annual death and rebirth symbolised the decay and regrowth of vegetation.

This is why we find the mysterious symbol of the serpent in the garden with Adam and Eve in the scriptures under the book of Genesis. The meaning of the name Adam is red man, and the name Eve (Evia) in Hebrew signifies a female serpent. The meaning of genesis is the origin or mode of formation of something.

The serpent goddesses Tzinteotl is the Cretan Snake Goddess and Hebrew Eve of Aztec mythology. She is called Mother Earth and Mother of Gods (Teteo Inan).

To the Mexicans she was the female serpent, Cihuacoatl who was the great mother of the human race.

In the 3rd century the prophet, Manes taught Christianity in the form of Serpent Worship in Asia Minor, stating that " Christ was an incarnation of the Great Serpent, who glided over the cradle of the Virgin Mary, when she was asleep, at the age of a year and a half."

We find the serpent (worm) in the garden with Adam, a name meaning red man, and Eve, a name the signifies serpent. From the Tree, or should I say the tree of life in the form of our blood (DNA and RNA), the serpent ascends and whispers into the Third Eye (hippocampus or ammon's horn) of both Adam and Eve, the secret teachings of all ages.

In a sense, they are both accursed with knowledge of both good and evil in which they are given free will to choose to be like angels who ascend to the light up Jacob's ladder to Jupiter, or become devils who descend to the darkness of the ruler of earth, the devil who we know in science as the father of all humans, the worm.

In the end, both will be saved by the universal savior of the light, for the truth of their consciousness and true nature of themselves shall set them free.

The word “Ragnarok” comes from Old Norse Ragnaroek, “Fate of the Gods.” In an apparent play on words, some pieces of Old Norse literature also refer to it as Ragnaroekr, “Twilight of the Gods.” The event was also occasionally referred to as aldar roek, “fate of mankind,” and a host of other names.

Without further ado, here’s the tale itself:

Someday – whenever the Norns, those inscrutable spinners of fate, decree it – there shall come a Great Winter (Old Norse fimbulvetr, sometimes Anglicized as “Fimbulwinter”) unlike any other the world has yet seen. The biting winds will blow snows from all directions, and the warmth of the sun will fail, plunging the earth into unprecedented cold. This winter shall last for the length of three normal winters, with no summers in between. Mankind will become so desperate for food and other necessities of life that all laws and morals will fall away, leaving only the bare struggle for survival. It will be an age of swords and axes; brother will slay brother, father will slay son, and son will slay father.
.....

Jormungand, the mighty serpent who dwells at the bottom of the ocean and encircles the land, will rise from the depths, spilling the seas over all the earth as he makes landfall.
......
Thor and Jormungand, those age-old foes, will both finally have their chance to kill the other. Thor will succeed in felling the great snake with the blows of his hammer. But the serpent will have covered him in so much venom that he will not be able to stand for much longer; he will take nine paces before falling dead himself and adding his blood to the already-saturated soil of Vigrid.

Then the remains of the world will sink into the sea, and there will be nothing left but the void. Creation and all that has occurred since will be completely undone, as if it had never happened.

Some say that that is the end of the tale – and of all tales, for that matter. But others hold that a new world, green and beautiful, will arise out of the waters. Vidar and a few other gods – Vali, Baldur, Hodr, and Thor’s sons Modi and Magni – will survive the downfall of the old world, and will live joyously in the new one. A man and a woman, Lif and Lifthrasir (Old Norse Líf and Lífþrasir, “Life” and “Striving after Life”[4]), will have hidden themselves from the cataclysm in a place called the “Wood of Hoddmimir” (Hoddmímis holt), and will now come out and populate the lush land in which they will find themselves. A new sun, the daughter of the previous one, will rise in the sky. And all of this will be presided over by a new, almighty ruler.

Re: The Cave of Treasures
Snake symbols in old Egypt

Ra was the solar deity, bringer of light, and thus the upholder of Ma'at. Apep was viewed as the greatest enemy of Ra, and thus was given the title Enemy of Ra, and also "the Lord of Chaos".

As the personification of all that was evil, Apep was seen as a giant snake or serpent leading to such titles as Serpent from the Nile and Evil Lizard. Some elaborations said that he stretched 16 yards in length and had a head made of flint. Already on a Naqada I (ca. 4000 BC) C-ware bowl (now in Cairo) a snake was painted on the inside rim combined with other desert and aquatic animals as a possible enemy of a deity, possibly a solar deity, who is invisibly hunting in a big rowing vessel.

The few descriptions of Apep's origin in myth usually demonstrate that it was born after Ra, usually from his umbilical cord. Combined with its absence from Egyptian creation myths, this has been interpreted as suggesting that Apep wasn't a primordial force in Egyptian theology, but a consequence of Ra's birth. This suggests that evil in Egyptian theology is the consequence of an individual's own struggles against non-existence.
