I always wanted to be a gangsters moll in that time, robbing banks and that sort of thing, a short life, but fun.

An old native man in the Northwest Territories told me of the year that whole villages died. They kept the bodies stacked in ice in cabins. Then they spent the whole summer digging graves.

Dealing with so much death in one year was the most powerful experience of his life.

My dad had all these old paper back books of his from the 50's, all about the gangsters, not the mafia as such, from the 20's and 30's, I was always reading them as a kid, always fancied that life.
