yes a good lawyer for the ssi ssdi will help speed things up greatly and you wont have to pay out of pocket.
My lawyer took 20% OR 6000$ whichever was cheaper.
They should be able to help with the VA stuff too.

IDK if your in a big town or a small one but maybe you can get into a paper somewhere with a picture and generate some local interest in that way, especially since you served your country and now are being screwed over.
