Wouldn't living in an older home, rather than tearing it down, be recycling? Personally, I'd rather tear down an older home and start anew. We are house-hunting right now and the area we want in is all older homes. I'm looking for lots so we can build.
Quoting: Eductor Yes, I think it would. But new homes seems to be their preference, as well. It might be because the market is so competitive and it's quite difficult to sell a house that isn't new. My understanding is that if you want to immigrate there, you have to have a permanent resident Visa and the only way to get that is with a job or be highly-skilled.
Quoting: Eductor There are some other ways. It doesn't really matter if you're 'highly-skilled' as there are plenty of highly-skilled Japanese. But, yes, it's quite difficult. (As it should be, I think.) Quoting: Taol So why, just after reading this post, do I read this news item in the Netherlands? [ link to www.nu.nl (secure)] Because of an aging work force, Japan wants to attract up to 345,000 work-immigrants.
