The funnel web spider may have actually been designed to hurt humans. Apparently a dog or a cat could get bitten by one of them with no lasting effects; a human gets bitten by one of them and that human dies in a lot of pain.

Granted evolution is a bunch of bullshit, but there is no way to believe that a reasonable God created all of the creatures on this planet. Whoever created the creatures of Pandora's box, including the funnel web spider, was some sort of an asshole.
