I was walking near the Smithsonian and someone shouting "Support Women's Rights" tried to hand me some pamphlet. As she did she said "Do you support women's rights?" The implication was that if I did in fact support women's rights, I should take her pamphlet. Instead I asked "What right or rights specifically do you not have right now that you are asking me to support?" I was met with a blank stare. After a few seconds she said "Fuck you man!" and continued her shouting to other people. It's a question similar to the shouting at Flake in the elevator "Do you not hear me, why can't I be heard?" Jesus the whole world heard you. What on earth makes her think she can't be heard? She can do the same thing anyone else can do if they have been wronged. File a police report, bring a lawsuit, inform an employer, confront her accuser etc. When the moment is right a strongly delivered dose of logic causes a deer in headlights reaction. Seriously if the woman had told me something specific I would have taken her damn pamphlet and heard the issue - and if it was a fair grievance I would have supported whatever the cause was. No problem. I don't agree with every republican position nor do i disagree with every democrat. I just can't stand when someone can't make a reasonable case. I mean this sincerely - there are soon many groups claiming they are oppressed or somehow discriminated against. Can anyone make a decent case for a real oppression issue for some group (at least in the US)? I'll listen. Government is best which governs least - Jefferson

Pretty funny, pretty sad.... Quoting: Evolution16 Sad yes, funny no. What's sad to me is we live in a world where her only argument is "Fuck you man." Hostility everywhere. Why couldn't she have said you have a point? Why couldn't she have engaged intelligently with you? No, because that would be admitting she was wrong or that her world view was somehow flawed. It seems most people have a hard time admitting they're wrong even about the littlest things, not to mention major things like the opinions and philosophies by which they define their existence. People need more humility.
