All eyes now turn to Tropical Storm Micheal in the NW Carib Sea

as he moves northward into the S Gulf Monday then C Gulf Tuesday.

Latest guidance from NHC and models supper track about 200+

miles west of our local area shores. Then forecast strengthens

the system to a hurricane and the track bends back eastward

before landfall in the FL Panhandle Wednesday.

With this forecast and westerly wind shear to shove significant

outer periphery convection into the E Gulf that is progged to

start to move into SW FL Monday spreading northward over the

FL Peninsula for rounds of numerous showers and thunderstorms

Monday-Wednesday.

Some storms may be strong to severe especially in banding squalls.

Breezy SE-S-SW flow and heavy rainfall rates to lead to possible

flooding conditions.

Prolonged onshore flow to produce tides above normal and coastal

flooding concerns especially around high tides Wednesday. Also,

expect large SW seas to develop and move along area beaches

for large breaking waves, high surf and dangerous rip currents.

We will know lots more in the morning

May feel the aftereffects of this beast come thursday evening. Potential 50 mph winds, 2 days after landfall? That's still pretty darn strong.

Hurricane Center now with Michael reaching at least Category 2 in Gulf of Mexico.

Again, most model guidance is showing Category 3-4 pressure & winds.

Landfall still uncertain but Pensacola to Tallahassee to Citrus County Florida

I updated the post to substitute the Cat 2 storm surge images for Florida's Apalachee Bay and take out the Cat 1 storm surge images. The worst-case scenario is now that the water may reach heights of 8 – 19 feet above ground, assuming that
Michael will be a Category 2 hurricane with 105 mph winds and hits at
high tide. Let's hope I don't have to substitute in the Cat 3 images tomorrow. A Cat 3 landfall is at least 20% likely to occur.
