[3] I worked Katrina as a Housing Inspector for FEMA in Beaumont TX which is some distance from landfall of the eyewall but had sustained 110 winds for about 10 hours.

sustained winds of that magnitude can literally vibrate a house right off its foundations .

It's not like im the advise guru , but i would mark where my subfloor meets the foundation to se if it moves and photo everything throughly , including under house and attic roof , everything .

If you want to be brutal record also areas that you haven't fixed yet [deferred maintenance] so you can document new damage .

I also remember andrew and Florida , lots of elderly were at risk after the event because of the loss of power , that lived on upper floors and couldn't use the stairs,. its stuff like thaat that makes it so horrible

I want it to just be a tropical storm with less rain, I do want some rainfall. As I pray for California to get rain that soaks the ground not mud slides. Now, what about you trying doing something for once, you all at times seem to be looking forward to people being in harms way. I hope you do not mean to be the way it sounds.

In the mid-to-late 90's, a hurricane hit Panama City Beach and rolled into Atlanta in the early morning only a few hours later as a tropical storm. Winds were just below hurricane strength as it rolled through Atlanta. Tore the heck out of those tall Georgia pines all over the city and suburbs. Traffic and electricity was a mess for several days, and way too many houses had trees sitting on top of them.
