Tribute to the Cajuns

I've been in the eye of a hurricane before. Yes, it looks just like that. No wind, blue skies, then it starts all over again except blowing from other direction.

A rich and unique history...Cajuns.

Expecting the Eye to pass directly over my house about 2 am... hoping the winds have backed off by that time. Will def go outside and look at the stars when it happens.

In Southwest Ga. Really bad. We might have some gusts over 75 for the next 30 min or so. I heard a tree crack! Yikes.

6 hours ago, 1400 people at Holiday Inn Hotel. Cajun Army was using a back channel for phone service, calling to find the nearest hospital who could aid, as 6 or 7 people were cut by glass as well as a 2 month old baby who is also bleeding.

Basement area where hotel has supplies, golf cart, ladders was flooded, as well as the lobby.

Idk man that house is pretty cheaply built compared to the ones round it. The one across the street would have been a much r choice but in desperate times you don't really have much time to think and are just trying to survive. I'm hoping and praying for the best and it does seem like the house is fairly new so maybe it's hurricane tied.

Posting this FB message, for those of you who can't understand why everyone didn't evacuate, ie some just don't have the resources. Note, I do not know the individual posting nor her disabled sister.

Can't figure out why rescuers didn't go to trailer parks well in advance and assist the obvious disabled who needed help.

She was not able to evacuate due to no transportation and poor health. Before her phone went out, she told me the roof and walls blew off and a tree has fallen on them trapping them inside the remainder of the house. Her address is 142 N. East Ave Panama City, FL 32401.

I am unable to help because I am over 10 hour drive away. If you are reading this and are in the area please help!

Updating the Holiday Inn Hotel situation with 1400, "A side of the hotel was blown off." That's why there were injuries.

The south Ga crops (cotton, peanuts, pecans and walnuts) are in the peak of harvest and I hate it for the farmers that will lose their crops because of this storm.

check out the movie "Southern Comfort" from 80 or 81. Killer, one of my favs. Lousiana National Guard training mission goes bad when they mess with some cajuns. This band plays this song in an awesome scene at the end of the movie.
