They don't want people helping people. "They" want us all totally dependent on "them" and not each other.

Cajun Navy is far, far, far braver & more efficient than either FEMA or the Red Cross (which actually charges the people it helps at high interest rates.) TX victims from the previous disaster said the local churches who were there from the start treated them far better, gave them personal care items (confiscated immediately by the Red Cross) and fed them higher quality food.

Real issue is that provisions need to be made well in advance all across the USA to evacuate the disabled WITH their pets in times of disaster. I once called the State of NV and was told emergency services would offer rides to those without the means if tragedy ever struck.

At least with the many casinos there's plenty of convention space for rescue operations. FL and other states need to offer the same.

The Red Cross sucks. After Sandy they told us they couldn't help anyone until it was "safe" to do so. So about a week later they showed up and did virtually nothing. Luckily we had the National Guard and local firefighters, cops, and volunteer citizens. We did just fine with that. Especially the locals helping each other.
