That was my initial thought as well. After Bitcoin gained attention, even some hardcore goldbugs were saying digital currency is just like gold.

However after learning more about it and seeing how big banks have been paving the infrastructure for all-crypto transactions, I think it’s no longer just a distraction from precious metals, rather it’s the future of all currencies. Yes like they said ‘if we can’t manipulate it we won’t allow it’, but real cryptos greatly restrict the freedom and means of manipulation. Now they can only use rumors and closing of exchanges to influence market. With fiat dollar it only takes them a few keystrokes to create a trillion dollars and use it to drive market up or down. With their own fake crypto like XRP they can still do it.
