How many people do you know that have had the "Hernia Mesh," sewed inside them and later they come down with some type of cancer in that region, i.e., stomach, etc.

There is a place in Canada "Shouldice Hernia Hospital," that has superb method of doing this type of surgery, with a virtual zero-percent recurrence rate.

I know of two men, that were in their 80's, travelled there from the USA. The following day, one departed by plane, for a planned vacation to Europe and the other was back to work teaching self defense.

The many people I have told this story to either told me their doctor told them they "do the Canadian method," but, weeks later, when they asked why they were still in so much pain, their doctor would tell them "well, it was similar to the Canadian method."

Going to "Shouldice," even if you have to borrow the money, is worth it - it's your body, take the best care you can of it.

Most doctors know, and when they need hernia surgery, they travel outside of their countries, to get the work done at Shouldice Hernia Hospital....

I looked up hernia mesh, that looks unnatural as fuck, why would you put that in your body? its more for your screen door, not your organs.

i had the procedure done about two years ago.

after i had it i started to see these lawyers on TV about the
hernia mesh law suits for people who have had problems.

i haven't had any issues and hopefully won't.

My dad had an inguinal hernia mesh repair, fit as a fiddle, all his life, long story short, a week later, he was dead.

there is a class action lawsuit for anyone that had a hernia fixed since '06

I have a friend who had keyhole surgery on a hernia late last year.

He now has bowel cancer.

I am convinced (without any evidence) the two are linked.

Keep the hell away from Allopathic medicine would be my best advice.

google parastomal hernia and you'll see why. Many would rather a bit of screen door than a watermelon sized ball of intestines slipping through the abdominal wall.

I had my hernia done at Shouldice over 3 years ago and have had issues every since. Pain and discomfort during sex (Never had that problem before surgery at shouldice) and the side the surgery was on is always tender and I can't lift anything heavier than 20lbs. There's no longer a lump in my groin but otherwise, it's the same as it was before the surgery. If I had it back, I would have gone into a regular hospital. My son in-law had the mesh surgery and he can lift heavy weight all day long. I'm pretty much disabled!

Don't think that nothing can go wrong just because you only hear positive reviews about shouldice. There's also negative reviews as well but they're harder to find on google.

The thing about shouldice is that they will mostly only operate on healthy people that are not overweight. If you are overweight, they'll refuse you. This keeps their failure rates down somewhat.

Any surgery comes with risks and to think otherwise is naive to say the least.

You're a smart person. Trust your gut feeling and get referrals from sources you trust.

Google is NOT a good source when it comes to choosing a competent surgeon or hospital.

I totally understand your fear, i had 2 inguinal hernia, both sides... i put up with the growing pain for years..until i was almost unable to work my full hours without having to lay on my back to make it go back inside... honestly you should do it :) And from my personal experience...the sex is WAY better after ;) you should def think about it

Complications are rare? Just about everyone I know that has mesh has problems with it.

Why cant the hole simply be stitched up or patched with an organic piece of the patients own body? I dont understand what the body is supposed to do with this foreign mesh material that looks very uncomfortable. the human body is not a door, its supposed to be soft and pliable in the soft abdominal area

Watching people have procedure after procedure for hernias and come back more and more messed up is sad. But surgeons like the return medicare customers, more money from frequent fliers.

This person gets it and listen to the advice, it's spot on. I've had the Shouldice method done and can attest to how effective it is. Recurrence rate of only 2.2%

I did so much research on the mesh and although the complication rate is low, the surgeons don't want to take any responsibility if there is complications and will tell patients the pain is normal and you will eventually get use to it. By the time you find a surgeon who understands and is willing to take it out (it's a complicated... read liability surgery) your nerves have grown all throughout and you will not get it all.

If you have an inguinal hernia, don't get mesh.

I've had it done and can lift just as much as before the surgery. I don't feel it at all unless I strain and there's a bit of tugging but no pain and I consider it normal. You should go see your doctor because that's not normal unless your surgery was in the past year. Mine was 3 years ago.

I have a very small inguinal hernia on my left side... its been causing me pain at night sleeping when I lay on my left side for a year now.

All the doctor's in the states basically use mesh, I found one guy in florida who uses this "desdarda" technique, the place is called ufirstrejuvenation.

This place has good reviews... its where I've been wanting to go, they don't use mesh but your body. Anyone been here and done this? Ufirst probably uses the same method as shouldice but I've been so scared to get any surgery done.... but I also don't want pain.
