BOOM! Headshot to the DNC! Trump pushes for fed reforms on marijuana
Yep, I called this a while back saying that either mid-terms or at least no later than the run-up to next Presidential election would POTUS put his foot down and force the issue of federal reforms and taking a simple plant off Schedule 1.

Que up all the wailing banshees now....<alcohol, cotton, big oil, big pharma, other industries>

I'll bump it.

I'm interested in MJ being legalized.

More interested in the medical benefits.

He's a freakin' businessman first and foremost, so I know the man has his bean counters work w/ legal eagles to run the numbers on what would happen if.

It's a big game changer for so many product lines coming out of a humble plant. Farmers are excited. And elected officials are excited b/c of tax revenue trickle down.

And yeah, timing of this announcement is no coincidence. A lot of fence sitter voters are gonna' look at what this President could do whereas no other ever tried.

He ran on legalizing it, and has been fighting Jeff Sessions on it all the way.

It's a simple "state's rights" issue. Always has been.

And that's the bottom line, right there. I think Sessions had to play 'bad cop' on the issue (he's old school anyway) but does realize that the opoid epidemic is waaay bigger problem. The man is not stupid...he knows that big pharma and the alcohol industry has thrown tons of $$ into making sure it did not have a level playing field.

NO!

Federally it should be 100% decriminalized.

In other words, it should be 100% available for those in medical need.

Now recreationally, yes, that should be up to the states' legislature.

There should be ZERO arrests for small time offenders.

So, when this happens (not if) then does that mean that all prison sentences from pot charges will be commuted? Expunged off records?

More importantly, will it free up enough cots for the incoming masses of ass-hats not important enough to warrant a cell at GITMO?!

Oh yeah! Lots of upsides to this shit, people!!

Small time offenders will probably go through a process to remove convictions.

Big time offenders, I'm not sure.

Some dude was arrested here locally for 300lbs a couple weeks ago.

Not sure how the government will regulate it so the above doesn't happen.

In simple theory, it should be regulated akin to alcohol. There are other factors that play into account though.

Yes, it should be regulated like alcohol. Look at how CO's tax coffers filled up so quickly. Our neighbors to north of us are going all-in. A lot of good things would come out this reversal.

Re: BOOM! Headshot to the DNC! Trump pushes for fed reforms on marijuana
MJ should be legal, per the constitution. There is nothing in the constitution that deems MJ to be illegal. Same thing for the other drugs.

They tried the "taxation" route, even the supreme court knocked that down once because the govt made the tax stamp unobtainable. (see Timothy Leary's court case).

Look no further than the example of alcohol. When they wanted to ban it, they amended the constitution. It was a stupid idea, of course, but that's how you legally ban things.

This is from 2016 but I heard him say it was a states rights issue in a speech when he ran. It's all good. Use it to destroy the left and put people to work!

Yep, this one action would be a huge job creator. But just the timing should make the left's heads explode.
