I live in Portland.

I like how laid back people are. And I like the farmer's markets. I just don't talk to anyone about Politics.

Sorry for your loss - I mean the city that I used to know.
It was such a wonderful place in the 80s. I worked for a company in Beaverton, so I was there often.

We used to go there in summer as a refuge from the Texas heat.

Now, I would be afraid to go to a restaurant there, for fear that I would be served fecal material in my dish as a punishment for being a white male.

Oregon is a beautiful state.

Progressives have ruined it.

Seems like the city needs to boost its self esteem.

I've been to Portland many times.

It's a dreary, wet, bleak, hipster sh*thole.

edit: I forgot to add overcrowded, expensive with absolutely the worst traffic in the Pacific Northwest. Even worse than Seattle.

I live about 20 miles from Portland and go there maybe 5x per year... either to go the airport or visit friends.

The change over the past few years has been pretty noticeable. It's always been full of rioting anarchists (Bush Sr. called it Little Beirut once). But every time I drive there these days, there is more and more garbage littered all over, with strung out drug addicts and tents all over the streets... it looks like a 3rd world shit hole. Any time you are out walking around, you get swarmed by druggies looking for money.

If there is an earthquake you will be crushed by collapsing old buildings, because of politics.

Yep, it's always been a liberal city, but it was nice in the late 1980's, kinda like Amsterdam.

I have seen rich Christians work charities to their benefit for decades, without providing any benefit whatsoever to their communities.
