Space isn't just empty. It's everything.
There is no reason that you can't spontaneously pull anything into existence from the empty of space.
But on earth, it's a bit stranger how the network links us.
If you sat in your room, and concentrated on making an apple appear. I mean spend days and days putting all your heart and energy into pulling an apple from the empty of space. Someone will eventually walk by and put an apple in you hand by pure chance.
Almost as good I'd say.
