the way he sees it, he wasn't able to fully take out the deep state and protect the village - a failure of his martial arts and craft skills; he was going to obtain honor by showing his dedication to God and performing the ultimate martyr sacrifice - so that God's hand would avenge his act and finally crush the deep state for good..
