Antarctic ice shelf sounds like alien invasion, hear it

You may want to turn up the volume for this video above, but be warned, what you're about to hear is something very strange.

The American Geo-Physical Union released the recording of the Ross Ice Shelf after scientists buried 34 ultra sensitive seismic sensors to study the crust and mantle underneath. What they heard however, the creeping "singing" of the ice shelf, is not at all what the anticipated they would find.

As it turns out, the sounds actually come from powerful winds blowing through snow dunes on the surface of the ice shelf itself. Scientists say the sounds could alert them to the shelf's condition under climate change, like a kind of warning sound for the planet.
