Man thats what made me a firm believer in using anti seize and copper anti seize. I put that shit on everything. Makes life so nice when you come back to a part 5 years later and it comes right off.

No shit, I do that with almost everything too.

I learned a few years ago when working on older vehicles ,if I needed to replace something, I sprayed the bolts down two days in a row with PB blaster before touching them.
Most of my older vehicles weren't my main vehicle, so I learned not to rush it after many broken bolts. PB blaster a couple times a day over a couple days makes all the difference in the world.

Yeah...I didn't think these would be a big deal. They are only 5/16 bolts with a factory torque spec of like 25 ft lbs.

I was wrong, lol

I’ve done it to brother, I keep 2 cans of PB blaster on hand now and don’t take shit for granted. Lol. Took me awe hell several years to smarten up. At least if you soak it , and heat them and they break off , you did your best. And you may just have to deal with less broken .
My foot kicks my own ass when I feel and hear that snap. Luckily over the years I’ve accumulated easy outs , taps and dies of all sizes. Lol

Sucks. I cant tell you how many times I had to drill out or use an extractor.I can tell you that if you use threadlocker when you assemble something like a water pump, it not only provides a tight connection, but it seems to provide a barrier against galling or corrosion of the assembly.

I just did header gaskets on this thing 6 months ago, and the collector flanges came apart way easier.

I attribute it all to what? Galvanic corrosion? That nastiness that happens with dissimilar metals?

Steel bolts in aluminum is bad juju

I drowned those things in anti-seize when I put it back together!

That's gotta be really frustrating! I see that the cars and trucks up there just disintegrate in 10-15 years. That's just when they are getting good, IMO

Next time use an acetylene torch. Heats the bolt instantly so you don't have to keep heating everything around it for several minutes.
