My dog is endangered species. I am legally obligated to care for it.

My dog dumps in their yard and I don't pick it up

I think fewer "environmentalist" would be good for our carbon footprint.

This fails on so many levels - the very suggestion is ludicrous. Under no circumstances does it make sense!

Those coming to such a conclusion may jolly well go hide themselves in a cave from what they contend is coming because of people having pets.

To any one of sense it would instantly become clear that my pets are of significantly greater value than the their study!

Edited to say the amount of money wasted on a study to even consider such a possibility is atrocious and should be repaid to the grantors.

And of course they totally neglect the too many to number studies showing that pet companionship enhances people's lives, lowers their blood pressure, lengthens their life spans, eases depression and so many other things.

A study done in Australia concerning dog and cat ownership in the USA. Right. Well, if you want to see us Americans get off the couch and actually fight back, try and take our pets. I think it would be bloodier (for YOU) than you trying to take our guns.

Was this study funded by dog-hating Islamists?

These people want fewer humans on the planet and could care less about anything that lengthens or improves people lives.

They would find many "lead-based" carbon offsets waiting for them if they attempted taking peoples pets.

Dude, I can't even get the city pound to come & pick up our neighborhood strays without threatening legal action and even then they only make an appearance to avoid the paperwork. Then take my neighbors, leave their dogs on 2ft chains (literally) 365 days a year, outside, uncovered, unfed & without water. That's illegal, but don't bother reporting it. City doesn't care, LE doesn't care, the neighbors obviously don't care. But thank God for some random researchers in Australia telling us Americans our dogs eat too much. Well kiss my $ss Australia.

Take it up with PETA you clowns, if you think this is a major issue you've clearly got too much time on your hands.

Besides, animal feed is leftover waste from parts of the animal that HUMANS don't consume or those that die from other causes. It's eggs that don't make the cut on the inspection line, and many other products that simply would be tossed out to rot. They don't consider that.

If your neighbor's dogs are being abused and the police/sheriff or local shelter don't respond, call the ASPCA.

They're about useless. And when I say "about", I mean completely & entirely. They want you to report to local LE or your local animal shelter. Been there, done that. Excerpt from their website:

"How to Report Cruelty

Try to gather the following information before submitting a report of animal cruelty:

A concise, written, factual statement of what you observed—giving dates and approximate times whenever possible—to provide to law enforcement.
Photographs of the location, the animals in question and the surrounding area. Note: do not put yourself in danger! Do not enter another person's property without permission, and exercise great caution around unfamiliar animals who may be frightened or in pain.
If you can, provide law enforcement with the names and contact information of other people who have firsthand information about the abusive situation.

You couldn't be more right. If you follow their logic and do the math, the only "fix" is to catastrophically reduce population (not 3-4 billion, more like 6-6.5 Billion) and to have the remainder under an authoritarian system dedicated to repairing the damage to the planet.
