Lake Taupo, in the centre of New Zealand’s North Island, is the caldera of a large rhyolitic supervolcano called the Taupo Volcano. This huge volcano has produced two of the world’s most violent eruptions in geologically recent times.

A 6.2-magnitude earthquake has struck central New Zealand, causing parliament to be suspended.

The quake was felt most strongly in central New Zealand, including the capital city of Wellington. It struck at a depth of 207 kilometres south-west of Taumarunui.

There were no immediate reports of serious damage or injury. People near the epicentre reported their houses swaying and pictures falling off walls

Seen some prophesy stuff about this volcano over the years ... but nothing recently (as in the last 5 years or so).

New Zealand has been rocked with some large EQ's over the last few years however ... so the plates underneath it are still active and still moving around.

I imagine that even a Super Volcano would have a fair amount of EQ activity before it exploded (much like on a smaller scale Mt. St. Helen's did as the magma started to move and rocks began to break)

So far I don't see anything to worry about ... fingers crossed of course.
