Read any good (alternative) history books lately?
I'm looking for book recommendations (historical) that challenge what is taught in the American school system. Alternate versions of what we are taught, old publications, diaries of political figures from 1950 and before, so on.

One of my kids is really into history and it is a challenge keeping up with his reading interests. He just finished reading the original 1960s publication of the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich (he's 10!). He's hungry for more. Any help is appreciated.

It's not history. Is dystopian future. "Sunshine Militia." It's on Amazon. I just finished the eBook. Pretty good read, especially for GLP types.

Which part did you like best? When the propane truck exploded, or when Bronco Billy got it in Everglades City? I got the Hardcover.

Anything by Graham Hancock basically. My favorites from him are Magicians of the Gods and America Before.

Yeah, it's definitely one that you don't want to put down. Got some great characters in it. It can be a little technical for people not familiar with military structure.

Re: Read any good (alternative) history books lately?
I recently scored a two volume set on History before WW2

Much of what we are taught in school as history was UNKNOWN by the people living at that time (!)

Very very interesting

I have an HG Wells set of History too

Find OLD books and see what the people of that day wrote

Not the reinterpretation reimagined version 100 years later

Memories from the Front (Vol.III) Paperback – June 19, 2020
General Leon DeGrelle

Waffen SS (Waffen Schutz Staffel) were front line combat troops on the Eastern Front – some of the toughest combat troops ever! They fought hard and had the lowest attrition rate of any land warriors in WW II because they never quit – they didn’t know how to quit!

This book is about the warriors of the Waffen SS – the life, training, the hardships of battle and what they endured after the war.

Leningrad: Siege and Symphony - this book will really bring it home...though it is emotionally tough to read.

Also: Stalin's Daughter - for a more historical mainly first person account of Stalin and Soviet.

For me, it was when Colonel Byrd encountered the two low-lifes at the Okeechobee boat ramp. (The duck hunting part).

The dictionary of 1928 literally has DIFFERENT meanings for many words. It's crazy.

Pharmaceutical meant witchcraft during that time.
