This morning the power here started to cycle on and off before going off completely, I reported to the NIPSCO power company and have been checking back over the last hour and the list of reported outages is growing. There are no thunderstorms and very little wind that would be expected with an outage of this size. The outage reports on the NIPSCO website extend from Highland Indiana all the way to SouthBend. Does anyone else in the northern Indiana area have anything to report? Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

This looks like a cascading power failure to me. I have my internet router on a backup power supply and my Internet connection is down too. There was another brief power outage for about 30 seconds. Something is going on still but looks like it may be over for now. Nipsco is my provider. Quoting: Roobit Thanks for your input. The power where I am at is still unstable. Keeps going off every 20 to 30 minutes for a few seconds. The outage map still shows several outage locations most of which are concentrated in the Northwest section of the state. We did have some rain but I’ve seen stronger storms roll through here and we didn’t loose power. It might possibly be the results of micro burst storms. On the lake it has been fine...whoa...just as I typed this, I am now experiencing dim fade-in and outs on my computer screen. Book-marking this page. The last full-time black-out I experienced here on the lake was last July 4, during a biggo storm. Time to get that new generator I just bought out of the box I guess..

About the time of the outage suspicious observer reported that the coronal hole had impacted earth. I wonder if their is a connection. Most likely a coincidence, but the timing makes me wonder.
