Yes, sadly not anymore...in other jobs, but journalists should not be openly expressing a preference for the other side...they should be like judges and be objective...I know I am dreaming of fantasyland...but I used to work in news many years ago and registered Independent, and it was always funny to me how well I was able to play my poker face...and it served me well...

I heard all kinds of crap in the newsroom and this was close to 20 years ago...but not too much because reporters didn't want to be known as a D or R as it would ruin your chances for a good story from the other side...people would crack jokes but nothing malicious as today and the copy for air had to be free from bias or that producer, that reporter would be summoned to the News Directors office, because the risk of losing the license was not worth it...at least to my old bosses....

These extreme reporters in very influential positions are what has energized the fake news phenomenon. News reporters should at least attempt to hide their bias a little better. If they lose their jobs for doing dumb crap, so be it. It would be nice to see them try and bring back some respectability to the profession. All of them have fallen into school yard bickering and trying to bend things to their political agendas. They have no veracity nor do they feel the need to perform fact-checking. The stupidest was the Korean Airlines mishap where they reported the crew names as We Too Low, Sum Ting Wong, etc. We have fallen a long way from Walter Cronkite days. It is not just liberals and it is not just conservatives, it is both ends of the spectrum.
