Re: Have any questions about Skull and Bones?
I'd heard that during initiation they put you in coffin for a set amount of time

If so, I can see where that comes from

They certainly weren't the first to perform such ceremonies

The ancient mystery schools come to mind
 Quoting: Centurionx

I genuinely can't remember if we spent time in a coffin. I was drugged out of my mind for half of the ceremonies.

They do follow a lot of ritual, though. Even business is expected to have certain ritual aspects attached to be official.

My only real experience with religion has been Catholic school and the church they'd make students go to, and a lot of it significantly reminded me of that - the incense, chanting in unison, walking in order, having a "master of ceremonies" reminiscent of a priest, etc. It was like a more darkly lit church experience.
 Quoting: TlvmmCpoft

I see, yea it doesn't surprise me about all the ceremonial procedure

Definitely a lot of that in Catholicism as well, seeing how its roots are in ancient Rome, it is also not surprising :)

Isn't 322 them also ? As in March 22nd, or..

I was there between the mid 80s and mid 90s. More of a fixture than a student, although I did take quite a few classes.

They're definitely a building block of society, for good or bad. I think of them more as pirates when it comes to historical stuff. They set themselves up at the center of a new land, use their gold to push influence, gain power just to suck every resource out of the land, and they have actual skulls and treasure in the basement...

Kinda screams old world pirates.

Has the networking aspect of being a member helped to rapidly advance your career?
 Quoting: SmoothSailing

I'm a problem child.

My education was directed, guided, forced down my throat, and funded for the first half - and it's in a political career area.

I fought it. Every step of the way, tried to subvert it every step of the way. To this day, I refuse to actually work in that field.

Waste of an education.

So, I'll never know if connections would have helped me to further my career, but connections at the state department did help me to travel where I wanted to go.

Interesting answer. Their networking path was probably a bad fit from the start. Hope you have found a better life, and more happiness with your choices. It seems that many Skull & Bones have acquired very key positions is many industries & government.

I have a son who belongs to a very old southern fraternity. While in college and just out of college the networking is beyond what I knew existed. Interviews junior year that might take many people a decade or more to achieve.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear."

Re: Have any questions about Skull and Bones?

 Quoting: Hagen döes

I tried - badly, but I tried.

I was raised on "ghost stories" about Skull and Bones by one of the members before I first entered the building. I had been told I was part Native American (total lie) and then he goes and tells me about Geranimo's skull...and how they raped and killed all little girls who tried to enter...I think he was pulling my chain a bit there.

But I had it in my head that I was Native and that the skull needed to be stolen.

So, the first time I show up at Skull and Bones, I'm a little loopy on god knows what and someone's giving us the tour of the tomb, and I see the skull...

I actually started going closer to it to snatch it. The member who had told me the stories to begin with saw what I was doing and pulled me back. He was majorly amused. I never bothered to try to steal the thing after that.

They're an interesting lot.

Some of them seriously get on my nerves, but that's a personal issue that went on long before we entered Skull and Bones and has gone on long after I left campus. It's been a long-term scuffle. I'd file it under "family" but I can't sully the word.

I presume they use the regular deeds, titles, corporation papers to some degree, but at the essential... the entity that all of the "regular stuff" is owned by. Were you aware of this?

 Quoting: andymiller

Unless you think the Bush family is pretty blink looks have little to do with anything.

I was dragged in through a member. It's usually a family tradition, at least for back door members (put your dirty thoughts away).

There are two (or maybe three) types of people who are members:

The front-door people - these are your future presidents, leaders, meddlers in human life, etc and who you can find in the photo shoots. They actually get to access the building through the front door (an oddly big deal for a building that seems to have nearly zero foot traffic in the front).

The back-door people - these go in through a hidden-away entrance that isn't easy to see - they are CIA, hands behind the curtain, the people you will rarely see on the stage because we're off being the money men or the "lighting crew" and manipulating every aspect of what you see, including the presidents. You do see them on the stage now and then though, albeit often lesser roles. One person I knew from there had made it into major newspapers over political antics and another was a Hollywood and British actor - not one of the major stars you think about, but he still had a few good roles and the Brits love him.

There's also a side door if you want some mystery.

As for exact requirements, I don't know. The woman who brought me in (yes, woman, they were allowing women in through the back door long before they admitted they were, the priestess who ran one of the ceremonies when I was there was a woman, not a man in drag), she was one of those pretentious aristocratic people you want to strangle, even when she thought she was acting like something else. When I'd ask her about things, she'd give me answers like, "Oh, they let annyyyoneeee into Yale" with a look of disgust on her face about being forced to fraternize with the rabble. I'm betting if I'd asked about S&B, I'd have gotten a similar useless response.

No idea on the number, like I mentioned, it never came up in conversation.

They have what is essentially an annual game of tag in the enclosed green area across the street. Eccentric enough? They're mostly just people with a high level of greed. The conversation is boring (unless you're a conspiracy theorist, which I genuinely was not at the time), what they get excited about is generally concerning, and the agreements that are made within those walls are just - worrying.

Yeah.
They're an odd lot.

You know how a bunch of them have houses in a little area of Maine?

One of them found a geographic anomaly in that area - essentially, it's a small area of Maine that they believe will not be significantly affected by nuclear fallout because of the wind patterns there.

Now they all have houses there. Probably not a coincidence.

They genuinely seem to think they can survive an apocalypse, even if they're the cause of it.
 Quoting: TlvmmCpoft

Sounds about right.
I was telling every one that Bush and Kerry were both Skull and Bones during that fake election from my cashier line where I worked at a Shoprite. One day they sent in a member to check me out. He had on his Yale hat. I gave him my speech that every one got and he told me he's a member and he said "You're on the list, you won't be missed."
Oh yeah, sucka? I'll tell you what list I'm on. I'm on the list of names that YHWH knows, so go ahead and try it.

Re: Have any questions about Skull and Bones?
Let's talk about the numbers related to Skull and Bones.

Let's talk about the numbers related to Skull and Bones.

Let's talk about their plan to wipe out 95% of the human race...

 Quoting: Menrfa

Lol. He was probably just fucking with you. It takes more than that to get on a list.

But yes, both sides of every election for quite a long time were Skull and Bones. They very much ride candidates there. They don't just gamble on them, aren't just them, they also sink their control and claws into any potential candidates decades before they get far enough to be president. Hell, I'm pretty sure I met Bernie Sanders through them sometime in the late 80s. As far as I understood, they also had their hooks in Obama.

In the late 80s or early 90s, we did some social research through the university to determine what demographic a leader had to be to get away with the most during their term. Black male turned out to be the magic combination.

Lots of excited chatter went on about that one. Next thing I knew, there was a black teenage male walking through the front door of Skull and Bones, that "magical" front door only the front men can go through.

Met Bernie did ya ? That's kinda cool

Why am not surprised about Obama hehe

He always struck me as someone born to be a stooge

They're a match made in heaven really. Obama doesn't wanna know too much or asks questions, and he's clearly in love with himself. Those kinda guys are easy to work with. They thought Kennedy would be similar in fact. Figured all he needed was vanity(and a whole lot of whores)

I couldn't picture Jeb in the big seat on the other hand. He's not his brother. He at least appealed to conservatives. Jeb simply wasn't trusted. Seemed a bit of a screwball also.

George W. and Hillary fit the easily amused by shiny things category, at least going on what few experiences I've had with them. George W. really did enjoy partying, much like the memes. And Hillary... she really, really enjoys rewards. If I ever met Jeb, I don't remember. I've never been good with names and a lot of them just weren't worth remembering.

I'm not allowed to name them, mainly because they carry my "family" name.

But, maybe that's just because I know them more than the others. Maybe when you know someone's secrets, they're all that bad.

There were a lot of money men in the group who were essentially Satan, but they were in it for profit, not sadistic glee. What they caused wasn't great, but it wasn't driven by a specific need to wreck the world, just by greed, and sometimes that greed required wrecking life for everyone else.

However, the one I'm thinking about was in it for profit AND sadistic glee. Screwed up combination.
