California has never been big on maintenance, unfortunately. And they'd probably start screaming about their feelings at seeing the "baby trees die" and how "the burn marks look ugly." Erm, no. You cannot do controlled burns in places like this: [link to plate-tectonic.narod.ru] ^^THAT is just one little spec of California. Then go in and do it manually. Sorry, but California reminds me of a spoiled rich kid who never cleans their room and then demands that daddy buys them a new room every time the mold or fire takes over in the one they have. It's impossible. The state has 165K square miles of land. Look at that canyon pic I posted, ffs. There's no way to clear the brush from a place like that and the state is full of rugged terrain. It would be like clearing the brush from the Alps or something. It cannot be done. They clear it from roadsides and people clear around their homes but you cannot do the whole state. It would easier to go to Mars. During the 70’s thru the 90’s brush was cleared. As I said it was on going at least 6 months during the year. I’ve spent a lot of time in the California foothills. During the 90’s I was a competitive mountain biker. I’m familiar with our foothills from Cleveland National to Monterey Dame, I lived out there for part of that time period. It was required (not optional) for home owners to clear brush and it was cleared from along roadsides but nobody was climbing into deep canyons or up mountain faces to clear the whole state of brush! Not only would that be impossible but, as I stated before, it would have to be done every year. I do agree that as much brush as possible should be cleared, though, and if that's no longer being done it certainly adds to the danger. One of the livestreams I was watching earlier showed chopper footage over a huge development where fire was approaching. The chopper news guy pointed out how the brush had been cleared all the way around the development and while that helps, fire was coming through the canyons that are not cleared and then the embers simply land everywhere. It's interesting about the codes but I think a bigger reason for the increase in fires is the increase in population. More people, some of them psychopath arsonists, more power lines, more careless fools, more homeless encampments, mores structures to catch fire, etc, greatly increases the risk of someone causing a fire. Then there's the conspiracy angles such as are the climate change/population control Agenda 21 advocates capable of setting fires to achieve their end goals? I think so. In his poem Human Pride, Marx admits that his aim is not to improve the world, reform or revolutionize it, but simply to ruin it and enjoy it being ruined: With disdain I will throw my gauntlet full in the face of the world, And see the collapse of this pygmy giant whose fall will not stifle my ardor.
