I like Metal music, Ken Brant. Not much of the newer stuff, but that doesn't stop me from my enjoyment of the older metal songs that resonate with me.

I think you're problem, Ken Brant, is you're conflating older and new Metal songs. No shame in enjoying the older Metal songs if that is your preference.

I was watching a live Metallica concert some time ago..... and it was a concert from idk.... maybe 2016 or 17?


And like... it had this really old and like... family oriented thing going on

And like.... They starting to play "Creeping Death"..... and James Hetfield and the rest of the crowd were chanting, "Die! Die! Die! Die!"... etc etc

There was some huge kinda disconnect thing going on, imho

Like it was all happy and family friendly and like.... all old people stuff..... and like.... everyone was chanting that.... there was some kind of dissonance thing going on with the song and the whole family oriented vibe going on

i have tickets to see metallica again in january.

i'm not real pumped for it, but if it's half as good as the guns n roses concert was last year, it will be worth it.

Everything that was cool about Metallica died with Cliff Burton. Even the Metallica 'sound'.

Of the 5 good Metallica albums, three were written or influenced by Dave Mustaine, the third was carried by badass Cliff Burton bass, and the 5th was leftover ideas/influence from Cliff Burton and Dave Mustaine.

But really, why choose between them when you can have both fucking bands in one?

Megadeth's "Killing..." is easily in my top 25 of all time, despite it's shitty production.

Raw as hell, the drums are incredible, real innovative at the time for thrash. RIP Gar.

Granted, Mustaine is the definitive 80's heavy metal innovator and wrote most of Kill Em All and the classic riff to Ride the Lightning; Megadeth also had way more intricate timing.

Still, Megadeth started to suck way before Metallica, and they never recovered from it. Metallica went through a string of shitty records and then totally redeemed themselves with "Hardwired...To Self Destruct"
