Anyone ever take Sam-E?

I’m curious too, I have tried 5htp and also found online searches about it compared to Sam-e to be kinda vague in the differences between the two.

It seems to be more popular in Europe for some reason. Might have to wait until they wake up tomorrow morning and see this thread.

Yes and it was made worse. I saw him at the time and it was scary. As soon as he stopped he went back to his version of normal.

It can send you into a tailspin if you are prone to mania or anxiety. It's effective. It's not just a simple pick-me-up. You need to be unable to get out of bed depressed before I would recommend trying it.

Try st johns wort for depression. Magnesium for anxiety.

it affects the methylation cycle so its probably best to find out if you are an under or over methylator first and if its appropriate for you I would think.

I was about to post just this. Its important to know this information before embarking upon Sam e. I think Same e supplementation is recommended for under methylators (correct me if I'm wrong)

It's excellent for the liver. Milk Thistle is good, but SAM-e can help clean up and actually heal a damaged liver. For animals, it's called Denosyl- my dog took it because he has Addisons's Disease and has to take steroids every day- those are hard on the liver, and I try to keep his liver enzymes as low as I can. Denosyl can be more expensive than the same SAM-e humans take and it's the same thing.

I take SAMe, HTP, magnesium, as well as some amino acids for brain function.
I can tell you with 100% confidence that it helps with my anxiety. If I stop taking my supplements I wake up in the morning totally stressed even before I open my eyes.

The problem is I don’t know with supplements are providing the relief. I would recommend trying SAMe.
