I agree something is going on. However, an average surface fire on the forest floor might have flames reaching 1 metre in height and can reach temperatures of 800°C (1,472°F) or more. Aluminum melts at 1,221°F /660.3°C
Quoting: A Chosen  for factual info. I made a forge and melted aluminum. The sparks and flame coming out of it looked just like the fire tornadoes I've seen video of in CA. It's not that improbable. Space weapons on the other hand....
