What also came to mind - Hope this doesn't increase Russia's appetite for trying to seize the Ukrainian shipyards and metal foundries.

Russia’s Giant Dry Dock Sank With an Aircraft Carrier Inside
Now what?

PD-50, a huge floating dry dock at the 82nd Repair Shipyard in Roslyakovo, Russia, accidentally sank on Oct. 29, 2018 while Admiral Kuznetsov, Russia’s only aircraft carrier, was inside for repairs. Kuznetsov is still afloat but the dry dock could be a total loss.

the loss of the PD-50 could potentially ripple through the Russian navy and exacerbate its persistent problems with maintenance and modernization.

with today's hostilities breaking out in the Black Sea between Russia and Ukraine, I thought about Russia's sole aircraft carrier that was severely damaged when their floating dry dock sank recently. Found an article from 3 days ago citing the damage.

Russia’s sole aircraft carrier sustains $1.1 mln damage in floating dock incident

Back around 1990 - when the Cold war had hardly smoothed down - I sat in on a classified briefing concerning Russian Readiness - my mind was absolutely blown at how toothless the Bear was - had been - for a long time - especially in light of so much cold war propaganda to keep our own $$$$$$ Defense spending flowing ~ Who knows what the truth is -

But it seems everywhere you look the state of mankind is in decay - roads, infrastructure, military capability - its like all that energy coming out of WW2 expended in expansion and growth and now - it all decays.

Sure we've got tech, and watches and wi-fi and we are all monitored from cradle to grave - but meanwhile the actual world crumbles around us ~

True human capability seems limited today - everywhere.
