Are you guys doing okay? Well to be honest in here... am not depressed but i have a feeling of disappointment today. But i guess it will go away as soon as i'll focus on something so that i'll send that feeling in the background to transform to something else :-) Why depressed if i may ask ? Well, I had a ton of shit I was carrying and it made feel like me. Now I've just got this clean suit that I'm gonna have to break in.. Have you ever broken in tights? Unpleasant.. Have a good day. Hahahahaha :-) Tiiiiights :-))) That reminded me of that scene in Megamind movie where the Titan suit is gifted to the guy and the guy calls it Tighten You need some ballet classes... and a scene in the Nutcracker movie. You're killing me Have a great and funny day - and kick that depression away :-) |

*Siberia* (OP) User ID: 75419129 Romania 12/04/2018 06:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I carried other people's pain. Quoting: Halfthekasmos Mine was buried in shit. Still is. It's a confusing game, I know, and I still don't understand, but I know I don't miss what's gone, it's all shit (processed to fertilizer). Let's see what happens next. I used to carry those big water bottle recipients for the the water cooling machine in the office so that my colleagues won't have to break their back or hands and deal with the muscles pain. They were happy - and took it for granted. So every time the recipient emptied they were just waiting for me to come and notice it and tell them they are mdf lazy asses then go and bring a full one and fix it on the machine. Until one day when i had enough of it. They stayed without water 4 3 days and waited for me to carry it. But i was just ignoring the issue patiently. In the end they had to carry the water themselves. And now all is good - we all carry it and the pain (in the ass or in the muscles) so that we all can enjoy it when we're thirsty. |

Bee Free User ID: 47497854 United States 12/04/2018 08:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yeeeeeeey ! I've finally read it all - and my conclusion about it is that aside the interesting looking explanation and suppositions (while alluding to superpositions - which are indeed to be considered together with sort of "quantum triangulation") the article was rather a beautiful attempt in chasing a tail. However... now i have this question in mind: Suppose that you are blind, deaf, not able to smell and tied to a pole - so not able to move either, how would you experience space/time ? Ha. I actually considered prefacing that article with a note on how much of an insufferable read it is. It manages to be thought provoking here and there, at least. Discussions on theoretical physics (tail-chasing is actually a good term for the endeavor) tend to be either too technical or too fantastical. This one manages to be both. And, yes, it is way longer than it needs to be. I'll come back to your thought experiment after mulling it over a bit. Question: has the subject in question always been deprived of sense experience and movement? Also, hi there Sib Hope you're having a beautiful week! Heya girl :-) The week is going let's say ok got now . Hope that you're enjoying a beautiful one in there So to answer to your question: Let's suppose that the subject was born blind and deaf. We tied the subject to a pole to obstruct movements so that the subject can't physically measure space by walking. :-) And i totally agree on the summary you laid down about that article Tail-chasing discourse has its merits. It often leads to tail-biting. Some metaphysician friends of mine got me hooked on tail-biting several years ago. The taste is quite pleasant, but the ensuing digestion can be a real bitch Have you ever heard of Victor of Aveyron? He was a French feral child found and introduced to civilization when he was around age 12. His physicians described him as having no understanding of perceptual differences in sound, touch, temperature, smell, or taste. This makes perfect sense (no pun intended) in terms of everything I've learned about the role sense perception plays in developmental cognition. My initial guess would be the subject in your thought experiment has only a primitive grasp on space and time. Newborns crave the bodily support experienced in the womb, and find comfort in being held or swaddled. They also have a rudimentary awareness of instincts corresponding to their circadian rhythms. This kind of understanding is more reflexive than cognitive, though. I don't see a way to develop beyond primitive reflex in the absence of social and environmental interaction. |

See... i picked the example of deprivation of senses because we have this tendency to measure things which we think that are outside of our "local body" (to keep the trend from the article) by ignoring the elements at play inside our "local bodies". We think that a subject deprived of major senses would not be able to build a sense of space/time because it would rely just on a few instincts. However, practice tells us that when people lose their visual optic sense they still build up the notion of space through the auditory system. We imagine that if we take out the auditory system too, the subject would be lost to space... But... what if the subject would rather be lost in space ? My intuition tells me that he would be lost to what we think is our "local space" but he for sure would not be lost to "quantum locality" or q-space. Now... What if our subject builds a sense of space through dreams ? We assume that if the subject can't move, hear or see, the subject has no ways in which to dream... but what if the subject dreams as all the normal people do so they would experience space in that state ? What if the dreams the subject has would be built on memories of space and things stored in DNA ? And if we got there... what if the subject develops an extra sense and decodes frequency so he can envision space through smell ? What would his nose tell him ? What if the space we perceive is but a superposition of the outside space we decode through a sense provided by the body construct, and an inside space already memorized in our genetics ? I can go on about "triangulation" too but i've already typed too many "what if-s" for now |

I can go on about "triangulation" too but i've already typed too many "what if-s" for now Nice. You're more of a philosopher than most philosophers I know, y'know. And I know a lot of philosophers. It's not entirely their fault. Pop scientists kicked philosophers out of institutionalized science many years ago. As if observing and collecting data could ever replace the interpretation, theorizing, and construction of meaning for said data. But I digress. I do believe in molecular memory. I also believe subjects who lose the use of major senses can reconstruct them through the non-locality within their localities (or non-local communication in local biological processes). But a loss of sense implies the sense was gained at some point. It gets murky when discussing an un-enculterated subject. I am in no way advocating for notions of tabula rasa (blank slate), as enticing as such notions may be. But I do think human understanding is hitched to the realm of relation. Reminds of how individual cells will die if abstracted into isolation from the whole of their organism. I think your analysis of our sensory underpinnings is spot on, and everything you're proposing (about our potential capabilities) is entirely plausible given my understanding of quantum communication in biological systems. But, while it is true non-local sources of energy and information are not bound to the languages of our domain, we still are for the most part. DNA communicates information non-locally, but it still communicates with us, and our reality, in locally constructed languages. As long as we're within the realm of measurable energy in motion, we require relation to experience existence. This goes back to our "I and Thou' discussions. Only as the You becomes present does presence come into being. "The concentration and fusion into a whole being can never be accomplished by me, can never be accomplished without me. I require a You to become; becoming I, I say You. All actual life is encounter." Is the dormant memory of relation enough to replace You in the formation of a whole being? I don't know. It's an interesting thought. Additional pondering is required. More ramblings will inevitably follow. Soon :) |
