Notice the craters are all the same depth, not the same width though. It seems like it would be that the bigger the asteroid the deeper the crater. AND they all seem to be a direct hit, head on. You would think that there would be some that would come in at an angle, driving up the surface area to one end of a oblong crater. I didn't see a one.

He just recently got interested in this stuff, for some reason and is now wanting a better quality telescope but I've no idea where to start...

I have a celestron 130 with sky tracking....the telescope is average, its the eyepiece i use that makes the quality better. I use the celestron ultima eyepieces
